really

If I were you Don, I would edit that post. I dont think the tech guy would like to know that your running anything in the bed of your truck, its illegal. Were your running that weight in the back of your bed when you won Virginia?
Illegal??? Hmmmm Page 43-47 of my 2003 FFW rule book in reguards to Tough Truck does not mention anything about not being able to run with any objects in the bed of the truck.

My IHRA book doesn't state anything about not being able to have anything in the bed either. Anyone have an NHRA book to check this???

Since Bruce insists on throwing his ultimate wisdom out.If he were as wise as he thinks he is, then he would have known ballast is perfectly legal as long as it is bolted down and secured.

Since he dosen't race, dosen't understand, and he dosen't know how or why people race he has no clue.

You should look into some drag racing education classes to expound upon the great wisdom you think you have,or great wisdom you wish to desire.Since right now you are showing yourself to lack any wisdom of drag racing, and look like you were the one who put the s-t-u-p-i-d in the word stupid.Thank You.I now know where the word came from oh great professor of drag racing.

Would the NHRA tech director who is studying this thread please chime in to let Don know it's okay?No nevermind he knew that already since he actually races and knows how too.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH Illegal to have anything in the bed of your truck...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.....You made a funny and didn't even know it....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH...better edit you post Don...HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH.....tech director is reading..HAHAHAHAHAHAHA......BWAWAWAWAWAWAWAWA..

I guess these guys that are dissapointed not seeing these trucks run 10's all the time should get there checkbook out and then they could run 10's all the time.

Thats great Grif, slam me and then prove me right in the exact same post.

I dont think Don or Vinnie have taken the time construct an elaborate system of brackets and hangers to bolt down the toolbox, wheels, or jack they got lying in the back, so yes, thank you for confirming that they are illegal. Why do you think they run tonnea covers? To hide that from tech. I've seen it at Cecil and MIR, guys have been told they cant run with unsecured items in the back. Velcro is securing the bedrug Vinnie.

Thanks for the confirmation, It is a rule Talli.

See, you missed the point.
I would love to have a 10 second H/D and if the money ever comes my way, yes, I will send it to my bud and have it done, but the point that your missing is this.

I wanna see these 10 second daily driven trucks race for points/cash while running 10's

I guess they will have to start being daily driven 9 second trucks and dial back to 10's before I ever see that huh?

Hope you got my point now

Later...

Says who????? Come one Mr Knows IT ALL, let's get some proof. The FFW Rulebook doesn't state it as beign illegal. My IHRA books doesn't either. Does NHRA state that it is illegal to make a pass with a pickup truck with cargo in the back????

I would think the tech inspectors (who when argued in other posts, don't slip up and are on top of everything) would look in the bed. These tonnea covers can be easily pealed back or opened to check inside.

Please post proof that is is illegal to run with cargo in the bed of the truck

That isn't what you said.Let me refresh you as to exactly what you did say which was:

Running anything in the bed of your truck is not illegal.Like YOU said. That isn't even close to being accurate for someone who knows so much about drag racing.

We all understand you don't like to see the trucks dialed back.A great majority who race the class however are actually trying to win the race. What the heck kind of concept is that anyways?Win the race? What for? Why?When you could maybe better your all time personal best?Who wants to win a race? That's so stupid!!!!Just go as fast as the truck can go everytime and it should run the same number everytime.Heck if it does it once it should be able to go exactly the same every single time.

Yeah right.Sure.Okay.

Holly sheet dude, stop. Your giving away all our secrets....for years we have pulled the wool over the eyes of tech, loading our beds with mischief, all masterfully hidden under a tonnea cover! Rats, what will we do now? Oh wait, we'll velcro everything in! Whew!

(will I still be able to sneak my girl friend in the gates under the tannua or is tech in cahoots with security???????????)

I guess you really are that thick in the skull....do you have any concept of what type of money it takes to build a ten second truck, and then to run it maxed out that often???? Every time you go out, you run the risk of breaking things....you can't run that risk on a daily driver when you have to drive home, especially on a blue collar budget!

How bout your boy Jonny? How many miles does he put on his truck? Is it registered? Does he take his wife for sunday cruises? Would he drive it 700 miles to an event, run tens and then drive it home? Doubt it.

wow bruce, you want to see 10 second trucks run 10's, but the owners don't want to so they can win the race? That's a great opinion and all but uhh. . . . . . since they happen to not be your truck i think you should probably shut up. They've shown you that they are dialing back only half a second or so, so what the hell is the problem? When you have a 10 second, you should run it ***** out every time light to light because that would be a whole lot more entertaining to me.

Edit: Actually your an idiot for not WOTing your truck at every stop light. What the hell is wrong with you.

Knowing better, but not being able to bite my tongue, I have to say that one mans (93cobra) diasppointment in not seeing a 10 second capable truck perform at that level has turned into a goat rope.
The public address announcer was continually hyping the crowd about JDM's Truck Class, and I think there were a lot of people in the crowd that expected to see some high 10 second passes after listening to the hype.
I really don't know why so many here took offense in what was originally said in this thread. I have read 93cobras statement over and over and I do not see where he was trashing anyone, including JDM. Christ he has their parts on his truck...
He simply stated that he was disappointed that he was not able to see a 10 second pass from a truck that was capable.
I was hoping to see one too. There are not too many trucks in our area that are cabable of this feat, and it would have been very enjoyable to see it happen.
Are there any plans of a heads up class involving the Lightnings, and in my case the Cobras in the near future at the FFW events?
If the squabbling continues over a simple statement like 93cobra made, then maybe they should set up a boxing ring at future events and some of this ***** talking could be settled in a true manly fashion. How many entrants do you think would sign up for that event. My guess is not too many.
Lets get back to helping each other improve our performance through sharing of the knowledge that took many of you this far.
No more he said this and he said that BS.

Wow,

I guess I got lucky. I have attended 2 Fun Ford events and seen 2 trucks run 10s. But then of course 1 of them didn't make it back on Sunday to "race" in eliminations.

I am no science major but I guess that means that running 10's isn't that great of an idea or something....

I dunno....

It's just an observation from an lowly 11 second truck.

BTW, congrats to all that participate!!! They are all winners!!! It beats sitting behind the computer bashing those that do....
