Norwalk FFW results
I will be out at one of these events this year... I was not ready for Norwalk due to the need for traction bars and a loop to run safely. The truck has run 12.60's, so I am not as fast as the rest of you. But, I would still run this all out.
When you speak of the consistent slow cars like a taurus, and such, they are running all out as well. If I raced enough with the same combination in different environments, then I would be able to accurately predict my time and how I would run..... thus no need to de-tune. Again, ifI had a 10 sec. truck, and I de-tuned to 11.9X, I would still have the same issues as I would as a 10 sec truck. I would have to worry about traction, air, etc. So, why not just stay in the territory that you know? Do all of these de-tuning people run their local tracks de-tuned as well so that they know how their truck will act in different environments? Sorry, I just do not believe in that. At the local tracks, I bracket race and run all out. My truck does not vary much from run to run. Even with added power, it should not vary as long as I have experience driving it, and driving it in all types of weather conditions.

Tough Truck is not run the same as normal bracket racing at your local track.
Do you understand that we absolutely can not change our dial ins at all?
The way the class is set up is you first make up to 3 qualifying runs. Usually these occur on Friday and Saturday. The calculated dial-in you HAVE to run in eliminations is your best qualifying time less 0.1seconds. So if you ran your best of 12.6 in qualifying, you have to run a 12.5 in competition. Good luck with that if you have no more in your truck. Especially if it gets hotter on Sunday than it has been on Friday and Saturday as was the case here.
Hope to see you at an event after you get your bars and the loop on your truck.

Get to steppin.............................
Tough Truck class my ***. Why not just make it the "Tough Taurus class" and let all the participants rent Taurus's at the local Budget rent-a-car. That would save everyone a bunch of money and probably be MORE exciting.
I am not as fast as everyone else but I run ***** out at every bracket race. And I fully understand the rules of the "Tough Truck" with the dial in being set by qualifier rounds, which is why I think sandbagging by 0.1-0.2 sec. is perfectly acceptable.
But 1 second, for crying out loud! I refuse to watch guys dailing back that muchoff the times they are capabable of running. I think maybe I'll enter next year and run 14.9 with no boost, "just to be safe".
If it was all about money I would have been a lawyer.

Whip, when your done bringing down this thread by making negative posts and not reading what I wrote, let me know big boy.
Chris and Whip,
I raced my L as fast as it would go, and I race my H/D as fast as it will go, so when I am spectating at a race and there are **IN A HUGE BOOMING VOICE **"The worlds most ten second trucks" at that race, it would be nice to see a bracket race where two trucks run 10's next to eachother and one wins.
I dont care who tunes them smallbrains.Later...

Jamie FoMoCoFan (2000 Lighting) the number 1 qualifier with his dial in at 11.35. He broke out in the final round going to fast.
The number 2 qualifier was Dons Bolt at 11:44.
The number 3 qualifier was me, Jim@JDM my dial in was 11.72 the truck would run 11.50 flat out. This was a customers truck.
Ron's truck, also an 11 sec truck.
Lightning Bob ran 11.90 in the second round , his truck will run 11.70's flat out.
There was 1 JLP tuned truck there running 12.50's.
There was a total of 22 JDM tuned Lightning on the property who race in both Tuff Truck and the Bracket Classes. It always impresses me that this many people spend the weekend with us and have a good time.
I dont know if you know much about bracket racing but if you follow the bracket classes in NHRA you will see those guys hold up to 1 full second in the bag. Its even worse for a supercharged vehicle. In the Tuff Truck class for the past 7 races combined we average 30 trucks per event. Which means that 6 rounds of eliminations in a period of 3-4 hours. So if they hot lap you which they do at almost every event you will lose 2-3 tenths depending on weather. At a couple of events this year they have actually hot lapped us twice in a row. So most of our guys will hold anywhere to a half a second to 7 tenths in the bag. The reason for this is that they still have to run there dial in no matter what. The 15 or so full time followers that go to almost every single event are doing this for fun and the $35,000 Truck at the end of the year. So they are not going to run ***** out every pass.

****ing dip ****
Do a search on Black2000 and see what he contributes to this board.........nothing at all.
He knows nothing about nothing and is too ignorant to just say jeez, i didn't understand how FFW's TT event works. You dial in one day and race eliminations the next......but he doesnt' understand why these guys don't run ***** out??? I don't even see these guys saying they dont' run all out because of stressing your motor. You came up with that on your own. What they said was they can run more consistant detuned, so why stress the motor????
And you talk about Whip bringing a thread down???? Please. Every post your involved with seems to have you in a flame war lately.
All I hear from you is blah blah, no 10 second trucks, blah blah, JDM sucks, blah blah, I know everything, blah blah JJ says this.... blah blah.
IF YOU DON"T LIKE IT.............BEAT IT!!!!!

I was # 2 at a 11.44
Jim was # 3 at 11.7x
I had one pass that was off due to a brand new defective spark plug, I changed them and qualified 11.44 with 200 lbs of weigh in the bed of the truck, then I ran a 11.48 in eliminations
I also ran a few 11.5's durring test and tune, with the same 200 lbs of weight in the back of my truck.
The weather was hot and humid and on a cool day, with sea level altitude the 11.4 would have been a 10.90-11.0 pass
Why didn't you enter and run in the next lane against me. Then you would have seen how fast a 11.4 run really is.
I was very disapointed in the Ohio turnout. There were 16 total trucks that entered and 11 of them were regulars who do all or most of the events. I drove 700 miles each way and this was the lowest amount of trucks I have ever seen
Nuff said I am tired from the long ride, and am going to take a nap.

Why did you buy a Lightning if you want to see a taurus race?
Dialing back 1 second, who did that?? Jamies best is a 10.80 and he dialed in at 11.35. I think he ran a best of an 11.1 this weekend in test and tune. That was on his elimination set up. Don's Bolt elimination time was only 4 tenths slower than his best of a 10.90. Lightning Bob ran an 11.90 his best being an 11.70. I dont know if you watched the TT class or not. Maybe some other trucks held a full second in the bag with the bracket classes. The bottom line is there is always a very fast feild of Lightnings at FFW's. If you pace it out over the 13 events it has the most Lightning participant racers of any other sanction body event. There was over 200 new seperate Lighting owners that raced last year in the TT class. If you owned a Lightning and participated in one of the events and hung out with the other racers than you would see what its all about. It is a very large group of guys who through out the course of the year, loving their trucks, trying to win a national event, and a chance at winning a brand new 2005 F150 and runner up gets a 2 year lease on a 2005 F150. The Ford Motor Company Marketing manager for the F150 truck flew to the Richmond event and was very impressed with the amount of F150's in the class, spoke with 80% of the Lightning owners, and gave us inside detail with whats in store for future Ford Trucks. I know Ford Motor Company appreciates all the F150 entusiasts, and I know that the enthusiasts who got to meet Mark Appreciate him, these are so of the things we do at FFW.

Hey talli, give it up dude. I have the same right to voice my opinion that you do, but because my opinion differs from yours, you decide to be a jerk about it.
