Unhappy Track went fairly ok.... Way home Bad

I went today today to test out my JLP tune for the first time at the track. Temperature was at around 85 degrees. Ran with just above 1/2 tank of 93 premium unleaded

Today was also the first time running the Drag Nitto's at the track.

Only on run 1 was the truck cold down for 1 hour the rest were made with only 15-20 minutes cold down.

Run 1 didn't not get great traction.

RUN 1 RUN 2 RUN 3

Reaction : .382 .340 .606
I1 : 2.038 1.887 1.920
I2 : 5.654 5.533 5.551
I3 : 8.622 8.504 8.541
MPR (I3) : 81.589 82.956 81.001
I4

E.T. : 13.344 13.260 13.309

MPR : 104.498 106.169 103.387

I am still not happy with my results I was expecting to break into the 12's today.

Mods are as follow: 4 lb lower, 2 lb upper, Long Tubes with full exhaust, heat Exchager, SB/TB, Ported Eaton, C&L 95 MAF with cold air.

The only good I can say was good at the track was that I got 3 green lignts. (wins)

In my way home there were lots of people the would come to me and rev me. I am that kinda of person that always up for a good street race.

04 L beat him by 4 - 5 cars lengths
C5 Corvete beat him by 2 - 3 cars lengths
Z28 LS1 beat him by 2 - 3 cars lengths

Then it happened. I raced my buddy's 00 L the first time and beat him by 2 car lengths then we were going to go again from 50 mph then the OD on the shifter started blinkiing.

I think I blow out my transmission's OD

Had to drive it home on 3rd gear.

Sorry for the long post.

Congrats Team SVT on a nice fun day at the track
No worry, the MPH is there, have no fear the ET will follow.

THE HEAT IS KILLING YOU (no and's if's or but's about it)
And believe it or not, you would prob go faster if you took the
upper off in that heat (been there done that)
Tested my theory prob 10 times (in the heat) down the 1320,
and each and every time I netted a better ET with 4lbs (in the heat) instead of 6lbs

As for your Blinking OD light, people will chime in,
I've heard of this before, I think you only burnt a fuse. It has to do with your headers, I don't know enough to explain it, but people will tell you what wire WHERE MIGHT HAVE got too close to the header and WHAT
fuse burnt and where (if thats what happen to you) ?

if not, sometimes a simple Chip Pull, Batt Disconnect, and re-install will fix it ???

BTW
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiice kills

Just base your time of of how the 04 L ran at the track. I'm guessing since you put 4-5 car lengths on him he was pretty much stock. If his times werein the 14's then I would say you ran strong and the heat is killing you.

teamsvt2002,

I have almost the same mods as you (see sig)
I just ran in 85deg. weather a week ago and had
the same results as you. My local track is a 1\8th mile.
I ran 2 8.5's and a 8.4 with 1.9 60's.

Back in March when it was 50deg. I ran a best of 8.10 and a couple of 8.12's. My 60's were better, in the 1.8's.

As rob02 said, it's the heat.

I hope everything is ok with your tranny!

haha

I thinks its so funny how us up here in the northern part of the country pray for warm weather, then once it comes, we pray for cooler weather

The heat is killing him, no doubt. Interesting info on the pulley Rob. I was gonna say he should be running faster with that combination, even in the heat but I guess not. We ran last saturday, and i was running right on my best times i ran last year ..........running my new set up this year....in the heat. Most guys were about a half second off their better times. 12.5 trucks were running 12.9x and 12.0x. So I guess I'll have some nice times in the fall comming................hopefully

Sounds like you done good and the tranny issue might be minor. Hope you make the 12"s soon.

Nice Post Rob.- as usuall

When it comes to HP the first few mods and results are cheap and you get big gains.

The more you spend the less you get at the end. But the results you want are what counts. Not cubic dollars

Your tranny is probably OK. My L did the same thing just before New Years. Turned out that under hard acceleration the O2 sensor at the back of the cats was hitting the exhaust. Once the exhaust burned through the insullation, it caused a short and blew the fuse that has to do with the tranny under the hood. I'm not sure of the fuse location, but if you check all of them you'll find the one that's blown. Replace the fuse, find the bad O2 sensor and replace it, and then get the trouble codes cleared. When they hooked my L up it pulled like 18 codes, and all this was caused by one blown fuse. Good luck.

OK I found out what was wrong with my transmission thank god it wasn't anything major. My selenoild A went bad and was causing my transmission not going into OD. I was lucky that my local Ford dealershipship had it in stock. $140.50 plus install I have to say was not bad after all I was alreally looking into the Monter Box Rebuild Kit.

But now for sure I will order a FTVB this coming week

I live in south south Texas. The weather here is extremely hot like for example at 5pm its still in the 90's and at night it bearly goes down to the low 80's and high 70's.

I tested my transmissions limits today after the new selenoid A install. Went I asked JLP I wanted a long 3-4 shift I did't think it was not going to shift to about 135 mph at 5800 rpms. Now that is breathless. And best of all no detenotion or anything of that sort.

This thing keeps pulling and pulling all the way. I ended my test at 140+ mph. I guess my transmission is still good

JLP is the man
