Oh, besides towing, I have hauled 20 sacks of 80 lbs of concrete (1,600 lbs total) on several occasions. Unloaded and ran up to get a second load of lumber! In the process ran up against a “T top Tras Am” smoked him, and got the load!!
This past weekend, I tied a chain to the towing bumper (back of truck) and the other end of the chain to a tree, put it in idle and it ripped a dead tree over 14” in diameter “right out of the ground” left a deep rut, in it’s place…
Talk about a “working” truck!!! She delivers!!!!!

Hey in TEXAS these trucks earn their keep. They are not just a pretty face… He… He… He!

Maybe Dodge will include towing in the feature models. Some of you people better prey the 3rd gen lighting isnt the same price because I'll tell you this more it will be more then 40k, which means alot of you will not be buying one.

What will you do next, bash it? It will also weigh the same as ram srt-10 due to that new heavy f150 frame. So enjoy bashing dodge while you can, because when the new lightning comes out im sure you same people will be bashing it.
Why start calling people hillbillies for using a truck for a truck? You can't even spell PRAY, as in Pray to God. Not prey as in The Lightning prey's on the rest of the truck world.

Don't take this personal, I am just having fun.

Nice kill Hank. That is one SRT-10 owner that has been to school now

I can say this! It isn't going to be at or over $45K. It's also not going to weigh as much as the SRT RAM. I can also say it will be under rated in hp and torque. With that said your RAM with a sports car powertrain is still getting owned by a 6 year old powetrain.

If I had a SRT run me down to race. I wouldn't tell him, "No thanks, I'm moded. It wouldn't be fair!" Right, like any of us would pass that race up. You bring a knife to a gun fight. Who's fault is that. Run what ya brung. It was still a Ford powertrain against a dodge's.

Did us proud HANKFAN

Hee Hee! My truck's totally stock, so I can post kill stories. The rest of you guys with mods can't post kills unless you pull them over and verify they also have equal mods.

Was there a part of the L FAQ that lists the acceptable cars/trucks to race, and matches their mods to our comparable mods?

Guess you would be referring to me about making fun of a production truck that’s not really a truck because it’s for show only…

I have a little saying:

”If it can’t tow it’s only for show…”

Fact is my little friend the Dodge SRT-10 is a pathetic little mans wet dream gone bad. Someone developed and designed a truck with a V10 that produces 500hp put it into a aerodynamic package of a bus slapped a sticker price on it for $45k and the best it could do is “equal” a Lightning’s performance numbers…

The Hillbilly title if it was deserved by anybody would go to someone that would spend that kind of money on something that can’t tow and pull its own weight, cost $12k more then another performance truck that is equal to it that can run circles around it day in and day out…

Pesonally, I welcome them. It's nice to have some serious, friendly competition. Before the SRT's, all we had to play with really, was the old Cyclones(Dont even make me bring up what a dissapointment the new Chevy SS was..). And unless they were modded to the teeth, they were only REALLY competitive right off the line, due to the all wheel drive. I think it will make things more fun with these Dodgers buzzing around. As long as they are fun & respectful, and don't get their vaginas in a knot if they should happen to lose (same goes for L owners), then we are lucky to have 'em. Personally, I'm tired of running down Vette's & Cobras all day...we own a supertruck, I want other supertrucks to race. Sportscars are fun, don't get me wrong, but we could use some "sister competition".

As far as the new Lightning goes... c'mon. Do you really think ford believes they can hike the new L price by 10-15 grand and still sell? nope. My father is a supervisor at Fords Global Fleet Testing Division at World Headquarters, so he gets the inside scoop on all the new models and he & his team have the pleasure of putting the vehicles through their paces while they are still in the design stages. Although he is currently putting most of his attention on the new Mustang (acutally, they are at the proving grounds today with a mule), hes making it a point to keep track of the next gen. L for me, because my interest is peaked and I want to know if its worth selling mine to buy a new one. As he tells it, there may be an increase in price..but 10 grand would be unacceptable. SVT is coughing up an extra 120HP out of the box, and a few sweet azz bells & whistles...so you may not see them selling for 33 grand right away. BUT...he also said that the word around Dearborn is that SVT & Ford got a GOOD taste of "worlds fastest truck", and they are without a doubt planning on retaining it. Plus, Dodge lifted it's skirt first, & showed us what its got..so in my opinion, SVT has a chance to make comparison's right now. So Im excited.

Either way, its good to have 'em. And if they are respectful & friendly competitors, then I think it will make for a good rivalry...

Yep, that sounds like my old truck.

JLP 12" Powerstack filter
PSP flip chip
4# lower pulley
2# upper pulley
90mm mass air
Accufab TB
2400 stall
Level 10 shift kit
Performance Automatics Red Racing Clutches
JDM full exhaust (long tubes back)
JLP driveshaft loop
Bilstein shocks
FRPP 1"/2" drop
replica 20" "painted" rims
PSP Caltracs
SnugTopo bed cover
BedRug
255lph fuel pumps
Electric fan
Cobra R water pump
Clear front corners
Plus other stuff I'm sure I'm forgetting

My buddy at the dealership said a younger Mexican guy bought it. I think he added a silver pinstripe. I just want to find out why he was monkeying around with the transmission just after he bought it. I had the transmission completely redone and added the stall just 6 months or so before I sold it. That tranny was a BEAST and the truck would slam through the gears. A week after I heard it was bought, I saw it at that "Champion Transmission" place by the Wings N More on the south end of Texas Ave. They had gutted the bottom (taken off the tranny, stall, exhaust, and other stuff) and had it sitting out front. I don't know what the guy was doing, but I can assure it wasn't as good as the near $3K I put into it just months prior.

Gator,

from what I hear the price being thrown around is $35K to $37K. The GT program took most of the budget and development time. Nice thing the durability testing on the Lightning engine components are done thanks to the GT.

Now it's up to the calibrators to make it meet EPA, fuel economy and projected performance times. I hear they are working on weight reduction also. It just better have the SVT concept hood and ground effects or count me out!
