Yes, I would not dump the oil trapped in the separator back into the engine, granted it came from there but it is dirty and we do change the oil...... I havent smelled the gas smell but maybe someone else has.....

Your attitude in this thread has probably caused more People on F150online to doubt your expensive kit.

Rich you have not answered my question... You know the pressurized inlet boot...I'm just trying to understand also and it seems to me Vince has a handle on it... What kind of automotive background do you have? Have you ever tried a seperator off of the stock pcv location? We need to get that oil sucking problem fixed. I have tried numerous remedies ever since the first time I pulled my blower to check/clean my IC. I don't like not having vacuum under boost and I certainly don't like smelly breathers. I also hate dumping my air compressor type seperators every time I turn around...not to mention I think some oil is getting by them...As you can tell I like this new oil removal setup but that's me.. Everyone will make up their own mind as to what makes sense to them and they will act accordingly...Jeff

I purchased Vince's system about a week ago. I have known Vince for about a year. He did the install of the N2O system on my
'99L. I like not having to empty anything like some of the other systems and expect zero problems from Vince's product.

Maybe a dumb question?

I read all the back and forth about the Oil seperator and PCV valves. Seem like this kit or system is a good idea, but my question is, has anyone talked to the SVT Folks to determine if a certain amout of oil is engineered to go into the intake? This question may sound dumb, but hopefully the Ford SVT engineers considered this oil problem. I have fiddled with a lot of old Ford engines, some actually needed a little oil in the combustion chamber to ensure extended engine life. Remember Ford must consider durability and not short term performance.

The Ford Harley Davison Truck Club has a complete set of pictures and part numbers to put an oil seperator on the 5.4 Supercharged engine. Basically same engine as Lightning, just detuned a little.

Here is an update to my oil seperator mod.. I and some people do not like blocking off any of the hoses. I installed 7 dollar booster check valve in the lower line so I do not blow boost backwards out of the lower intake hose....Here is a pic. of the new setup...

The lower pcv hose that goes to the back of the intake normally pulls vacuum but under boost blows backwards towards the pcv and the upper plenum (TB spacer as Ford calls it). With the check valve located in that line no reverse flow can happen. Sort of like guys using a dime to block off the top line but I did not want to block any of the factory lines with this seperator.

oil

I am 100 percent positive the oil on my truck is comming through one of the lines that connects to the intake boot. Also, as the oil builds up, the quality of my idle goes down. Clean out the throttle body housing and blade and the idle smooths out enough that it's noticable. Some oil may be coming through the top pcv line but the majority is ABSOLUTELY coming through the intake boot itself.

Ryan I'll get you a name and part number........

I want you all to know this mod is only going to stop oil from getting in your intake boot and throttle body area, it does absolutely nothing for the oil problem in the intercooler area.

My TB is clean as a whistle and has been since day one. I installed this same check valve on my new 04 the day I brought it home.
