That is what I was planning, not only because they are a supporting vendor but they got an awesome price on it as well...

EDIT:

Just ordered it, can't wait to get it, but most likely will have to wait to put it in until it warms up...

Chikenears rocks

The bed rug was one of my first mods as well. Here are the after-install pics. This is the same one you just ordered.

Thanks for the pictures, I have not seen one in person but have heard nothing but good things about them from those that have them. I looked at the installation instructions and they look pretty straight forward so are they pretty simple to install?

I am looking forward to it either way…

01 XLT SPORT -

First of all, CONGRATS!!! I bought mine just over 2 months ago, so I know EXACTLY how you feel. Let me tell you, the feeling really stays with you for a LONG time - all I want to do 24/7 is go out and light it up and all my friends are sick of hearing about it now. My billable hours are way down at work, too, (too much time reading this and looking at parts), so remember to try and FOCUS on anything else so you have time to enjoy it when you can.

For the break-in, I stayed away from WOT through the first 1000 miles, and I've still driven it pretty easy so far (just passed 3,000).

Question to you or the others, are you all using 5W-20 or 5W-30?
At 1500 I changed the oil, the best thing from the threads I searched and I agree is to go to Wal-Mart and get the Motorcraft filter and Motorcraft premium synthetic blend 5W-20 OEM. I'll change to Mobil 1 after I hit 10,000.

Another question, how long do you wait to actually dyno to see what you actually have at the rear wheels? I would imagine you would wait a 1,000 or more miles until its broke in real good? Mind you it would still be stock because I would like to know, at least to begin with, what it has from the factory. I don’t even know if there is anywhere around here that has a shop that I can dyno but down the line I will look into it.
I took mine to the dyno 2 weekends ago (2700 miles on it), check out the results with just a K&N drop-in here:

Let me know how your dyno comes out! Mine is a 2002, it would be interesting to see any difference.

Have fun with the new power! (Isn't it great? I went from a Ranger 4.0L to the L - holy incredible power!)

And take that space heater back and exchange it for a kerosene-fired salamander. A gallon of kerosene lasted me for like 4 coats of Zaino, and took the garage from 15 degrees to 60 in like 30 minutes.

That's what I am thinking of doing because the oil filled space heater really sucked. I couldn't get it any warmer then like 40 degrees F.

So I didn't get any coats of wax on, just washed it with Zaino car wash and used the Zaino detail spray to make it easier cleaning the crap off. It was suppose to be around 38 - 40 today and I don't think it got above 18 - 19.

Of course everybody around here thinks I am a complete nut, out washing the truck in 18 - 19 degree F weather, the hot water and soap I am using is freezing on the ground so I am slipping and sliding but damnit I got her clean so I could use the detailing spray on here…

If tomorrow is any better in the afternoon I may try again…

I went to one of the powerwash stalls when it was 15 the other week. They have super-hot water, but still I could only wash the front half of the truck, then the back half, it kept freezing. Make sure to use Dawn, not the Zaino wash, before you start putting the Zaino on. Bring a bucket with some Dawn and your own washcloths. Don't use the sprayer soap or brush, just the plain old rinse water.

And don't even bother trying to dry it at the wash. The towel freezes after the first wipe with all of the water it soaks up. I gave mine the final rinse, took it for a 70 mph air-dry on the way home pulled it in the garage and fired up the heater. Let all the ice melt, then take a spray bottle with fresh water around the truck with a towel, spraying the water spots and wiping them down all over. Then start on the Zaino.

It took me like 6 hours, start to finish with the wash, dry and 4 coats of Zaino, but you can't believe the reflection after the final coat and the gloss spray!!!

(And now it looks like it does on the dyno (below) again!)

I hear you there about using the Dawn for the first wash and I was ready to until I seen how cold it was so decided to just go ahead and use the Zaino car wash and then the detail spray to at least get something on it.

I have been using Zaino for a while and my last truck was silver so I used the Z2. I have always heard from many people that Z2 for light and Z5 for dark. So do you use the Z5 or Z2 on your black truck?

Mine being an 02, it looks like it already had a little amount of swirling in it (I can imagine how many times the d*mn dealer washed it), so I used the Z5 a couple of times and it looked much better. 2 coats of Z5 took care of the 1 oz of mix I made up with the ZFX, so I switched after that.

Sometime after it warms up and I have time to sit around and really work on it, I plan to use the claybar then a lot of Z5 and finish with Z2, but for the winter, I just had to get something on it to last a little while. Use the gloss spray, I really think it resisted picking up road dust really well.

My g/f nearly killed me for spending that long on the truck, and it was a pain, but I really loved doing it. Love the new L!!!!

The install is fairly easy 01. I had Kimball showing me the way though so I'm not one to talk. It definately will help to have someone help you. Just make sure it is positioned where you want it before you tape it down.
