These trucks are like addictive drugs. Have 1 truck and you are addicted
Congrats you will love it I sure like my 03 Sonic Blue, even with all the problems it gives.
.
01 you dog! For two years now I've smiled everytime I walked out to get in my SCrew with the 4.6. I still love it, but it will never be the same knowing you are now driving a new L with a smile on your face that an undertaker couldn't remove.
Good luck keeping rubber on it!

Dammmm...there is so much excitement going on here I just had to go out and wash & wax my baby.
I remember when I first got my L, I kept holding back, breaking her in just right then...
Addicted for life, matter of fact I gotta go, need more mods......

Hey on congrats on the L. As for breaking it in, well everyone has an opinion. Just do what you feel comfortable with, however what ever you do just make sure it is warmed up before stepping on it. As for the drop in filter, I like mine and to boot I got a .20 increase on my fuel mileage. Just my .02
Well, you where all right about last night, what a BITCH it was to get any sleep last night. Didn’t get to bed until 2 or so then woke up about 6:45 with my daughter knocking on my bedroom door ”Dad, your getting up right? You ARE taking me to school today RIGHT?!?”
I am still as PUMPED as last night and just waiting for it to warm up a bit so I can wash the truck. Stopped by Home Depot to pick up a space heater for the garage so when I am done washing I can polish it in the garage, if it’s not warm enough outside…
Fast Gator, thanks for the advice and I will follow that and change the oil at 100, 500 and 1,000 miles. Question to you or the others, are you all using 5W-20 or 5W-30? Don’t want to turn this into an “oil” thread, and I know 5W-20 is recommended as it was on my last truck. My last truck the dealer recommended using the 5W-30 and that’s what they used but when I asked them yesterday about the Lightning they recommended staying with 5W-20.
Another question, how long do you wait to actually dyno to see what you actually have at the rear wheels? I would imagine you would wait a 1,000 or more miles until its broke in real good? Mind you it would still be stock because I would like to know, at least to begin with, what it has from the factory. I don’t even know if there is anywhere around here that has a shop that I can dyno but down the line I will look into it.
The first mod I am thinking about doing is getting a Bedrug because I have heard nothing but good things about them. Performance wise I won’t be doing any mods until later down the line because I still have my daughter and I don’t make a lot of money, a decent salary, but not enough if I blew a motor I would be able to pay for it out of pocket.
My daughter is excited about going to the FFW in Epping this summer. She asked me if there are other Lightning’s there because she thought there wouldn’t be many because you really don’t see many at all around here, I think in the past 3 years we may have seen 2. Anyhow I told her there are quite a few Lightning’s that go to that event and some extremely fast ones at that, so needless to say she is pretty damn excited about going and seeing all these Lightning’s…
I am still PUMPED LIKE A **** and ALL YOU PEOPLE AND THIS SITE ROCK!!!!!

It might be overkill but it really can’t hurt either and very cheap insurance.
