i wouldnt want to turn my old motor in just for the fact that these things will be a collector some day and it would be nice to have matching numbers

matching numbers?

the only thing that there is to match is dates as far as I know, and they aren't exact. EX. my truck was built in late december, but the heads were cast in late november and the engine was built in early december.

I believe the only dates are on your valve cover anyway, so you could simply take that off.
