1.93 60 on slicks (whats wrong)

I have a fairly modded truck. When i went to the track on my slicks the best 60 i could get was a 1.93. What am i doing wrong. My mods are in my sig. I am running 16 hoosiers

Do you feel it spinning?

Many things can result in this.

1- Poorly prepped track
2- Improper air pressure in tire
3- Not heating up the slicks enough
4- Tire spinning on the rim (mark the tire with mark lined up with the valve. Do a run and see if the mark is still lined up with the valve)

Also how tall are your tires? if they are lower then a 28" tall slick you lose gearing (basically) and times will suffer.

Luanch differently (Bring up the stall, luanch more or less aggressive etc.) and play with the air pressure. With your mods on a good track you should see 1.7x 60 foot times no problem. If not better.

How did the rest of your slip look? Also what elevation are you at?

I launch from idle and punch it resulting in low 1.7's every time with 18-19 psi of pressure. I have the QT Pro's.

You forgot to mention that you get to the track a half hour early to start your burnouts.

Im running 18 psi. When i leave the line i stall it up to about 1200 an leave. I do a fairly long burnout. It is possible that i am spinning on the rim or having a traction problem that i cant notice off the line. When i do my burnout i do notice that when i let off the gas that one of my tires catches traction before the other. Any other ideas

Why would leaving at a lower stall speed help my 60. It looks like to me that would put me farther out of the power band. Please explain

Have a friend record a few launches and watch them.

Also what type of slicks/rim size?
Custom traction bars - as in ranchero style, slapper bar style, etc?

I leave at 1500 and have good success getting into the 1.6's. If you are worried about the slick slipping on the rim, mark them. Track prep and track temp also have alot to do with it. What are times and MPH.

Just try it and let us know the results

It has to do with flashing the convertor..........

HMMMM

if you figure it out, let me know.

I'm in the 400/500 club and haven't run better than a 1.91 60 on hoosier qtp's!!!!

I all about gave up on racing this season back in september. Try again next spring I guess

If they are new, you have to break them in with like 15 runs. I was 1.9's for like 10 runs and then all of a sudden 1.79 out of nowhere. It has been in the 1.7's since. i launch at 900-1000. I was going higher but Joe is right. 900-1000 seems to do the best.

I use 16.5# cold, about 18#s warm

My Hoosiers are just about down to the wear holes and are worn flat across.

I sugest to try some different tire pressures, 18#s seems like a lot, especially on a track that is poorly prepped.
