Can't play by the rules so you're taking your ball(s) and going home?

Why would you expect to be able to break the rules, Jim ... They
are, after all, for everyone's safety. Wasn't that one on the issues
last year? You having to TALK to someone about letting a
roll bar infraction slide at one of the races?

And at SSOTN aren't the Lightning owners guests?

Jeez ... Great testament to our honesty there, Jimbo ...

Cliff,

You have a habit of turning words around. If you read my earlier post it say I have a truck with a roll cage that is certified. Maybe you should read the entire thread before you stick your foot in your mouth. I have a legal truck, I am just not wanted their and that's okay with me so maybe you should take your ***** and bounce them back up a couple pages and read.

Jim address the real question, Did you ever work with KB regarding your spacer or was tonight the 1st time you speak to KB ? Is it safe to assume that they never made changes to the adapter to accomodate your spacer ?

JLP, Pull some strings and get JDM in. SuperStallions of the Net limits the number of vehicles so people get their moneys worth in runs, I doubt they will care if 1 extra truck make 1 run.

BigFan,

No, I have never worked with KB regarding the spacer. If you go back to my previous post it says that KB made a change to the adapter plate which allowed us to use the Phenolic Spacer. This means that the first production units had an adapter plate that did not work properly with the Phenolic Spacer. The poduction units that are out today with the new style adapter plates work fine with the Phenolic Spacers if you use the correct bolts.

I did read the whole shooting match, Jim ... The first
statement you made inferred that KB changed his
design to accomodate your spacer. Nothing you say
now can change that impression ... Sorry ...

And SINCE I quoted your exact words, I don't think
re-reading would help me a bit ...

Well prob the real reason I haven't made it into the 10's isn't due to the power the truck is making. The main reason I haven't dipped into the 10's is my suspension. My suspension setup is more geared towards driving on the street and road racing. I have Hotchkiss springs and stans QA1's on it. It not only runs on the street and the drag strip, but I have done some autocrossing where I shocked a few Cobra and Focus owners.

If you look at pictures of my truck at the line and compair it to Bill, Paul, Kevin or Steve trucks you can see how much more front end lift they get. You have to remember untill a few weeks ago it was my only vehical. It has allmost 60,000 miles on it, I drove it to Virginia, Ohio, and to NJ a bunch of times this year. Even with all those road trips to the track, I was able to drive it home after every event.

The only problem it had this year was a ellectric water pump that failed this summer. Since then it has had a cobra water pump, just because it is more reliable.

Yes I race my truck, but I also use it as a truck. I just towed my focus 300 miles and still made it home on one tank of fuel.

Now that I have something else to drive, maybee(and thats a big maybee) I will do some work on my suspension to make it launch a little better. I am sure just doing a little suspension work will get me into the 10's.

To me my Lightning is to much fun to keep on a trailer and only let people see it at a drag strip. I have spent to much money on it not to drive it all the time.

I don't think any 11 second lightning is really legal to run NHRA

Untill someone comes out with a transmision blanket, and legal rear axles, all the fast trucks are illegal.

None of us will pass tech, if the tech inspector asks or knows what to look for. Not yours, Jims, Johnnies, Sals, or mine will pass tech.

Don was good to see you and Bill again last Sunday. My truck was rejected at inspection for not having a transmission blanket. The rule is that anything 11.49 or faster is required to have a transmission shield or blanket meeting SFI Specification 4.1 if the vehicle uses a modified transmission or special converter. As Don stated there is currently nothing available for our transmissions. What is this about legal rear axles?

RCI makes a universal trans blanket that measures 47x11.5". I'd bet two of these would work. As for the axles, it's not like a 9" assembly is a difficult swap in a leaf spring vehicle. The corvette guys go to a lot more extreme getting rid of the IRS to be legal, so you have it easy.
