There are a number of L owners down in the Tropics. Anything below Tampa is awesome (in my opinion). I live in Fort Myers, on the West Coast (the gulf is the only place to be, another one of my opinion's). I have been in this area on and off from '98, moved from Michigan.
I can't compare my L to another climate regarding how it runs, but I do know we have some very hi powered screamers down here and a few awesome tracks to have fun on.
If you are set on Miami, I would suggest Lauderdale just a little north you have the big city just around the corner and as many girls as you want right in your back yard!

You mean there's 2????
South Florida is great, if you want to avoid the snow.........If you want a peaceful place, go elsewhere. I'm lucky to live in a gated community in a nice part of town, but not every place is like this...........and with what they are asking for houses now in the good areas, you could probably buy yourself 2 houses in the Naples/Ft. Myers area or up in Tampa/Orlando/St. Pete etc.
South Florida has become quite an expensive place to live in, it's crime-infested, and I suggest you learn Spanish, cause most people are bilingual, and those who aren't, only speak Spanish. I'm Latino so it's all good.
My honest opinion..............if you want to party for a month, and have a good time, come on down...............it'll be tough to match the excitement elsewhere..............you want to move to Florida and have a peaceful life, stay away from "DA DIRTY SOUTH"

Dude, you just described the east coast of South Florida.
Sean, remember the east coast is the original party coast, industrialize coast and populated coast. Both west and east are night and day. Kinda like the big bad city compared to the little town effect.
There are many pros and cons to both east and west coasts. Where as crime is heavy in Miami it is very low in Fort Myers/Naples, but on the other hand - women being our main interest past our L's, they are few and far between on the west coast (unless you like 55+) and they are on every corner in Miami. I am only refering to true hotties, of course.
Housing has jumped tremendously over the past two years. Actually since 9-11, but you can still get more home for the dollar when compared to the Northern states. Example in my area - 2100 sq ft, 3 bed, 2 bath, 3 car on a premium lot with pool - you are looking at a minimum of $240k. More expensive in the Miami area I am sure.
Any way, all you have to do is ask yourself why we get a billion visitors each year, they must know something good is down here!

You guys have hit it pretty well. Florida is thought of as a cheap place to live, but the COLA keeps going up while the wages don't. My nephew tried to make it here for a couple of years as a commercial painter and couldn't break $14 an hour with one of the better firms in Broward. He wound up back in Chicago and had to settle for $32/hour.
As for nice places to live, they aren't cheap. The weather hurts your track times, not that there are many tracks around. And there are alot fewer L owners than there used to be.
On the up side, we could really use a few more people from New Jersey here

There are only two tracks near my area... one 1/8 mile track...and one 1/4 mile once that is somewhat nicer. During the winter FL rocks, no snow, no rain, never below 35 at the WORST...and never above 75. Summer on the other hand is like living in a humid swamp half the time...and hot as Africa the other half.
But at least we have some decent beaches ...

I live in North Palm Beach, in Palm Beach County and I love it! I think we have the best weather in the state, the gulfstream is very close here so we are warmer in the winter, and cooler in the summer than the west cost of Florida. We're not as crowded as the south, and you don't need to be bilingual (not that there's anything wrong with that).
