Question 4# Pulley worth anything...

Is just a 4# pulley worth any HP or TQ and if so any figures on how much? Not a chipped truck but an otherwise stock truck. Thanks.

I'd grant is about 80% as much as it would give to a chip and filtered truck.

most people would advise you to get a chip for 4+ also.

Is a 6# lower and a 2# upper too much for a 2000 L with stock motor?

Yes and No

If you have a proper tune, and take the proper precautions you will be OK.

Tonight at my local track is a good example of what i mean. A 2002 blew his motor up about halfway down the track. It was a cool night in the 50's and I doubt he any race fuel in his truck. While all the other Lightnings made sure they had race fuel in there trucks and all ran great.

I bet it will be the same this year as last year and the year before. You don't hear about blown motors in the summer. Now that it is getting cooler, and when it gets real cold, you hear about tons of engines blowing up.

When you run 6 or more LBS of boost you have to make sure you have safe air fuel ratios, and especially when it is cool out make sure you have 104 octane race fuel in your truck. When it is cool the air is more dense making your truck run leaner, also the computer will add timing when it is cool. Those two things can be a bad combination with 93 or lower octane fuel.

You can get away with this a little easier when it is hot out, you will be richer, due to the thinner air, and the computer will take timing out when it is hot.

It is all about knowing your truck the conditions you are running in, and what you can do to make it as safe as possible.

I see you are new to the boards, so in your case I might sugest starting out with just a 4 or 6# lower, and learn about these trucks. When you learn more about what the L needs, then maybee go up a few lbs of boost. Thats what I did, I started out with 4 lbs of boost the first year. the 2nd I upped the boost and my mods/ Now on my 3rd year with my truck, I went nuts with the mods and the boost.

Hope that helps

Don

Agree with Don!!!! However I ran a 4# lower with a 2# upper on stock motor, b/4 having a Jerry W dyno tune. Love this set-up. Course now is not the case, because have moded much more since then!

Don
I was just talking about that on another Forum
I pray with the gained knowledge, people tune safer this winter

Me I back down my boost 2lbs in the winter (remove the upper)
but continue to use the same tune, (making it richer and safer)
Run 2 Zones Colder Plugs (cooler cylinder temps)
and as Don Stated, will use Race Fuel due to the colder Temps

Lets hope this yr is better than last

Where do you guys get race fuel from? I put 94 octane in mine, is this not enough if I was to take it to the track when it gets colder??
