just got dynoed...
the fuel filter I just changed no more than 4,000 miles ago (anyway to check it and then put the same one back in if I can blow through it or something....) My plugs (tr6's) I have to check. But the fuel problem sounds like a possibility. I just wish we had air/fuel numbers... Intercooler I dont know why it wouldn't be working. Mine is a 2000 and it got recalled back in august or september of last year and I had the intercooler replaced... How do I see if that one is out already? I would know wouldn't I?
Yeah the dyno was a portable one and my truck was strapped down and all, I dont know how else to explain it. My truck was backed onto the rolers then the front of the ramp was raised so the truck was now leval.... Then they hooked "everything" (no wideband) and they got the rollers rolling then they let er ripp... 3 times. My first run was the best, and my last run i was down 10/10 at the wheels not sure cause the heat or what... 1st run was the best.
Did anyone else dyno at the one I did on Friday at Baker Ford? My friend with the KB did and I will look at his print out and go from there... I am going to try to go to the track tuesday and test out the new programs on the chip. Those #'s just discourage me... Not sure what I have to do to get back on track from here... Could be the dyno could be the chip? what else... The program on the chip feels really good. That's why I'm confused... O well I can't wait to test it out at the track... Wish me luck I am pry going to go tuesday...
Anyone else have a dyno graph i can look at on what it should look like?
Thanks, Shane

Todd Abbott dyno results Similar mods to me. 4# lower and chip. and he is over 400 at the wheels.
Dyno'd Today
Well I got dyno'd today for the first time 412.8 HP and 492.3 FPT with a beautiful 12.5 air to fuel ratio, I'm really happy with those numbers Todd Abbott
Those are REAL good #'s Todd

just to clearify... when dynoing the graph should never fall then try to go back up like it did in mine? Or is that normal. The 2 I've looked at recently were not anything like that. At a certain point when the power fell it did decline, but it never came back up. Is that my problem?
So is that hope for me something is off on the dyno or I am cutting out in fuel or what? Just like you all said that print out looks wierd.
and all you guys dynoing with more at the wheels than me with less mods gets me confused.... dyno again?
thanks, Shane

I went to the dyno Saturday and I have never been. On one of my runs the guy did not take the overdrive off and my graft was like a rollar cooster and even looped back. All the rest were streight lines. I didn't get high numbers as yalls but I'm happy. Side #1 safe side 396.69rwhp ,482.22torque Air/Fuel 15 untill 4.50 rpms then 12s all the way cross. That was on 93 octane. Side #2 421.56rwhp ,451.37torque Air/Fuel about 13 all the way cross. On 2 gals Toulene per 1/8 tank. Thanks Jim no detonation!
I know this Dyno was new and it has a smoothing setting and my runs it was either on 4 or the highest setting 5. The lines were stright.

is there anyone who can point out if that decline is from the portable dyno or my truck. Or do i have to get back on another dyno and get a/f #'s and then get a reburn to the correct #'s?
I guess what I dont want to do is get back on the dyno and read the SAME thing. And I don't want to send my chip in for an adjustment in the a/f and have it be the dyno...
thanks, Shane

Shane,
I was there Friday. I didn't get there until about 7:15. I had my truck but I didn't get it dyno'd. I had mine done last yr at FLP and I made 380Hp and 470 ft. lbs. My AFR was 11.6. This is for my street program. At that time I only had chip, filter and 4# lower. I haven't tried my race side yet. Something is definitely wrong. If I were you I would take it to FLP and have it done again. If you get the same results then you have a problem. Let me know when you go, I might have mine done again now that I made some changes. I did get Roush to sign the Lightning diecast models

Tomorrow I may get out to the track around 4. Rt66 that is. You can't get off work by then can ya? I want to run with the set up and see if I can put down some better #'s... If I dont see ya there, i'll let ya know how i did. Thanks, Shane
Something is seriously wrong there. Your truck is dropping tons of power all of a sudden at 4600 rpms. It almost looks like you are either hitting a limiter, or your a/f is going whacky. Too bad you didn't get a/f readings, we could tell better what's going on.
As for the 5250 hp/tq thing, always look at the graph axis'. Most dynos autoscale, and if you notice, the scale up the side of the graph is not the same for hp and tq, which is why his don't cross at 5250.

I just got back from Ohio, Justin pointed out this thread to me. You're not dropping "tons" of power. You're printout shows a 4 horsepower drop and your graph shows the same. From the way the power steps up on the dyno graph it looks like he did not get into the throttle quick enough and hard enough to raise the load value to bring the torque converter lockup in right away. That dip in the graph being that it is such a small horsepower loss it is most likely lockup kicking in. If lockup doesn't kick in immediately after the shift you will loose horsepower across the band. On high horsepower trucks is see as much as a 45 horsepower loss and up to a 70 ft/lbs torque loss. If I may give a little advice have the truck redynoed, tell the dyno operator to hook up a scan tool to it and bring up TCC, bring it up to 60 MPH, wait until TCC kicks in 100%, then bring it to 65MPH and go right to the floor with it. The reason why you have to wait until 65 is to make sure it doesn't downshift on the dyno. I'm sure you'll see an improvement on your torque and your horsepower.
Hope this helps,
Jim@JDM
jim thank you very much for the reply. I really appreciate it. Like you said it is only a 4hp decline on the dyno. But what it comes down to is around a 50hp difference in where it should be right? So im saying if it were the chip, or something, dropping power, I'd feel it. I told Justin the program I have on the chip now I love. I am going to take it to the track tomorrow and try to get back into the mid 12's... Back to the dyno, if there wasnt the decline, I would continue to peak untill around 5200 rpm's right? SO even though it only shows a 4hp decline, the decline threw my truck off 50 horse? Is that correct? If i go dyno again and there is no decline like that at 4600 and if I peak around 400hp then it was the dyno... Do you understand my question?
I feel a lot better after reading everyone's responses. Thank you jim for posting. I love the program you put on my chip. Great service by JDM. Like I said I am going to try to get back to the track tomorrow if I can get out of work, and if it isnt to hot. I will let you all know how I do. Thanks, Shane
