Question Keeping bugs from sticking?

Plan on taking a road trip tonight, and came across some good ideas to keep bug juice from sticking to the bumper/hood/etc...

Cooking spray (your choice of flavor)

or

Pledge

Anyone try these with any success? I plan on going out cruisin once I hit the resort area, and don't want to have to spend hours washing and polishing out all those bugs..

There are a lot of chemicals in that stuff, could they harm the paint?

The bugs are attracted to the headlights, I just drive with them off and I haven't hit a single bug.

I have hit a fire hydrant, six garbage cans and a mailbox.

I've never tried PAM, but I've heard it works.
The best thing to date for me is a fresh clay baring and wax. They'll come off pretty easy.
Best thing would be a bra, I know PAM is good for keeping rubber from sticking on the wheel wells, so it should be good for the bugs too.
Have a safe and fun trip

Well, you'd think that Pledge wouldn't be that bad - it's mostly a wax... Yes, there's other ingredients, but if it doesn't degrade wood, I'm thinking it'd be OK on paint?

They don't splatter or stick as bad if you keep it under 100.

When I get back this weekend, I'll report on the Pledge...

If anyone knows of the Lake of the Ozarks, that's where we'll be... Keep a look-out for a silver '01

Try using that spray on wax, it makes the surface kind of greasy. The dealer I go to always puts that crap on my truck and it makes getting the bugs off easy, then again it attracts dust and crap like crazy.

At WFC I saw a guy put saran wrap on his bumper, got out and a guy ask what he was doing, he peeled off the saran wrap and said, "I just peeled off all my bugs." I havent tried it myself, but have been tempted for long trips..

Cyntaxx,

Yep that’s the type, the spray wax or spray on shine. I don’t know what brand the dealer uses but it works great for bugs. It makes the truck shine like crazy but like I said it also attracts dust, dirt & pollen. I’m not sure what kind of affects it has on any kind of regular wax that is already on the truck though.

Raoul - I have the same problem. How do you keep the garbage cans from sticking to the front bumper?

We have extremely hard water here (water stains after you wash unless you dry with tissues)...so I always go over my truck with a thorough application of mist and wipe (just certain areas).

I love that stuff and it's great for a lazy a$$ like me.
