Methanol has a freezing point of -143.5* and if you mix it with water that freezing point changes. Of course methanol is the only thing I would consider pooring in my engine

I heard methanol corrodes the rotors of the Eaton... I wonder if that rumor is true.

Methanol is corrosive if left in contact over a period of time. But for a short blast on the street or at the drags I'm not sure if it would have any effect at all, because when the system shuts off, the alcohol evaporates and its gone. As long as the pump and lines are made for it, thats is all that would worry me.

A friend of mine has a home built 2 stg alky system on his turbo buick and has run it for 7 or 8 years and there aren't any signs of problems from the methanol. And as far as turbo buicks go I can tell you the stuff flat works.

In the late 70's and early I buily a few turbo motorcycles and we ran water injection. We actually use windsheild washe fluid. It was a great blend of alchohol and water and was cheap and easy. We used winsheild washer pumps controlled by a pressure actuated switch pumping through a jet into the intake behind the carb. This allowed us to run 12-15 lbs of boost on pump gas Considering that without we were limited to 10lbs max this was great deal. We had no computers and could only limit max advance. If we didn;t use the injection we would have to retard the advance so much to avoid detonation that the additional boost was not an improvement.

alcohol usage

****:
I tend to disagree on the alky usage....
(Steve from SMC Enterprises here)

We spray the crap out of our turbo Buicks....I might get 6 1/4 mile passes out of a 1/2 gallon......It takes plenty to get the job done. A puny water inj setup might last a week/tank, but a good alky system pushes alot more spray than that. We average 25% more boost on pump gas with the SMC kit. And we offer the ONLY system with the in-car controller to tune the system on the fly.
Features:
100 psi pump
pressure guage
line pressure switch
in tank or external pump
braided steel hose

In-car controller with;
Pump speed adjust
boost on point adjust
low-alky warning lite
armed lite
spray on lite
test switch

If ANY other outfit offers these features for under $400....buy it.

as far as installation: the water injection pump was mounted near the front bumper on passenger side along with the relay..the fluid resevoir is my win wash fluid resevoir..tubing ts off the bottom of the w wash resevoir into the inlet of pump...the tubing was then routed out the pump into the back corner of the upper plenum.....the trigger comes from the hobbs switch which is zip tied to a vacume hose near the ecm harness on pass side...its pretty simple to look at....

To be honest with you, I got the kit as a demo-guineapig..[my emphasis, Paul]. REM , I heard, is going to be carrying the SMC kits, which are supposed to be phenomenal and work better....Tim or Paul at REM can tell you price.. I took some pics but I dont know how to post them but if you give me your normal email, I will send to you.....as far as hp gain...when I mix mine with 50% alcohol....Im gone.... as far as the dyno goes, my dyno is the street and I feel a definate difference....When Paul determines the date , all this will get finally resolved..It shouldnt be that much longer....I figure a week or two at the most...
