Water - alcohol injection

Has anyone ever tried this on thier Lightning , besides me? I just mixed a 50 50 shot of denatured alcohol and distilled water and it felt like a shot of nitrous when it kicked in at 10 pounds of boost. If you are running a lot of boost like me, this water injection kit will definately help you out..my truck pulls a lot harder upstairs..

why did you pick this over nitrous wich also has cooling effects?

The water injection allows for more timing by cooling the intake charge into the combustion chamber. It is increasing the octane level of your fuel. Ive got a kit from SMC Enterprises that i have yet to install.

I thought of that same Idea. I took out my washer fluid res. though. Useless piece of weight.

You can mount the tank down by the front near the radiator. However, you need to figure out how youre going to refill it.

That compartment is pretty crammed. You could mount that tank and one of those greddy catch cans and still have some room to spare.

The spray nozzle should be as close to the tbody as possible. You could probably use sals juice plate.

I see this topic come up so much it hurts. I would like to get some knowledgeable answers. I've heard of systems like this in use quite a bit on motors that do NOT have an intercooler. I can also see the benefits of using a system like this if you are trying to achieve magic numbers on pump gas. But, I have an intercooler and when I go to the track I run VP 104 -- is this system for me? And is there even a point of running this system with a nitrous system? Curious…

I will be hopefully dyno-tuning this combo next week at REM, Id like to do it also withe the Kenne-Bell @ 22psi if It comes in this week, my nozzle is drilled and tapped into the back passenger side of my upper plenum, the reason I dont use nitrous is because the nitrous will be injected through the upper plenum and Im afraid that it will freeze the water going into the motor from the water injection, also water injection is not considered a power adder like nitrous and certain events will only allow you 1 power adder and thats your blower....I am going through about 1 1/2 gallons of water or water/alcohol mix per week......

Don't you have to put the nozzle in front of the throttle body, not behind it under vacuum? I installed one on the elbow behind the throttle body and the vacuum siphoned the water out whenever the engine was running. I was told the pump wouldn't allow that to happen but it did. Unless the pump you have doesn't allow water to be pulled through.

I consider that a possibility, that water is being drawn out during normal cruising, but I think the amount of water actually being siphoned is negligible if it is happening at all, the pump is controlled by the hobbs switch and comes on at 10# of boost, I go through about 1 to 1 1/2 gallons of water mix a week in around 1 tank of gas ....the injection pump isnt supposed to allow this to happen either ...

Well, i dont know what which kit you got bro, but one tank full should last you at least 300 miles. If your not getting more then 200 miles per tank of h20/alc, then your spraying way to much and or its running constantly.

smcenterprises.com has a very nice kit. ****pit adjustable. check it out.

The purpose of water injection is to run high boost levels if you like while on pump gas. It acts as a safety feature cutting detonation.

As far as placement, most of them are drilled into the lip of the throttle body or the elbow. You could spend the $$ and get the REM smooth elbow and tap into that just before the tb.
