CalTracs or Metco bars?

Who can tell me the pros and cons of both bars?

I really like the Metcos, but I would like something longer so I thought of the CalTracs.

Shoot me some info...

I like my ranchos. But depending your suspension, Metco uppers may be the route to go for the best clearance...

Uppers will not fit and I like the adjust ability of the Metcos. I may just look into making longer bars for the Metcos...

Metco lowers netted me 1.63 short times without driveline failure on the ol' lowrider. Set up correctly they work great and the greaseable bushings make them dead quiet.

Stay away from the Cal tracs, Metco better, Rancho type(jdm, jlp) even better.

Don the general opinion is that the Rancho style bars are better beacuse they are longer so that is why I thought about making the Metcos longer....

Am I on the right track?

Chris,

Check the NHRA rule book regarding traction devices. Some traction bars aren't allowed due to their length It's an easily overlooked item but if you get some **** retentive tech guy he might cause you problems.

With your new motor I'm assuming you'll want to be compliant.

Are the Ranchos legal?

Can any of you Rancho users post up some pics of where they mount up front?

TIA

I would worry more about geometery than I would bar length.

The rancho style bars only do one thing that I can see and that is keep the rearend from wrapping up. The geometery created between those bars and the rear axle are almost worthless for anything else IMO.

My understanding is that if the bar is to long and it broke that it could launch the vehicle in a similar fashion as the drive shaft.

I will be going with a set of Metco bars.
