What are my options for upper pulleys if I already have a 4# lower...

I've got a 4# lower and I love it. I just want to get a little deeper into the 12's. Since I ran last time I picked up a set of traction bars and et streets, so that should help with about a 10th or so. My 60 foot times on stock tires were 1.85-1.95 all day long. I want to run a 1.75 60 foot on these et streets, I should right?
Also b4 I get to the track I will have electric fans, cobra water pump, and hopefully my intake from jdm with a 90mm mass air on.

Even with all that, I don't see my times going down from a 12.64 that much. The tires will help a lot, but I am wanting a little more boost. I can swap my 4#er out for a 6# pulley and call it a day. But I already have the 4 on and I really like it, so what are my options as far as upper pulleys? I know there are 2.75 and 3 inch pulleys... Can I get more info on whats safe with a 4# lower..

I need to figure out what I want... Weather it be to be more into the 12's or If i want to run an 11...
Say I want to run an 11, and off nitrous what are my options?
Swap the 4# and get a 6 and go from there.... Or keep the 4#er and get an upper. thanks, Shane

I run a 4lb lower and a 2lb upper
I love that combo.

I happen to like the quick change upper, it takes maybe 2 minutes to do if you take your time (1 minute if you rush)

Got mine here from South Florida Pulley Headquarters

http://www.southfloridapulleyhq.com/frame.htm

but Johnny has a nice new set up thats very reasonable
if your gonna keep it on all the time

Rob what are your times with your mods off nitrous. That combo sounds great for me as long as im not hurting that blower... I know any pulley bigger than stock is hurting the blower, but I took the jump to a 4#er and I'm comforterble there, what will the 2lb upper do for me and to the blower? How much boost will i put out then? Currently I am running between 12-14#'s. I am more than happy with a 12.6 but want to get that down if I can. Thanks, Shane

i just spoke with Paul at Razor's Edge (great guy) and he has the interchangable upper pulley combo for $215. It's a 2.77 and a 2.84. The smaller pulley putting out 2-3 more pounds of boost, the bigger only 1 or 2...
Now I am thinking thats to much boost for the stock blower. With my 4# lower, chip and filter I put out 12#'s of boost on a warm day. 13-14 I've seen on a cold day. With the program I have on my chip I dont WOT a lot in the cold so I dont see 13-14 any more... But even with the 12#'s I have, ad 1-3 #'s (upper) on top of that and I'm at 13-15#'s... Thats a lota boost and a lota heat. It is a 2000 so the rods are a litte stronger, but still that blower creates a lota heat at that much boost. What can you all reccomend for me with a stock block and a stock blower? Thanks, Shane

Dont worry about a 4 and any upper being to much boost for the stock blower.

I remember seeing JL's truck have a 8lber and 2-3upper back in late 2001.

I ran a 6lb lower for over 23,000 miles and my stock blower looked BRAND new.

I wouldnt even mess with the top pulley unless you want to have it interchangable.

Personally, I would leave the 4lber, get a 75 shot for the days you want to go fast. The Blowers LOVE alittle Cooling NOS in front of them....

I've thought about nitrous... I think about it every day. But i want to try to get the most out of my truck (without blowing it up) THEN nitrous. I have heard great things about our trucks and a 50-75 shot... Is that what's best for me is a 75 wet shot of NOS

I can do...
4# lower + 75 shot nitrous
swap 4# and get 6# lower
4# lower and 2-3# upper....
hmmm nitrous sounds good, but I don't know much about nos. I'm learning more and more about our trucks, and how our blower works and what it can handle... So I wanted to just up the boost a little. But isn't shooting a 50 shot the same as putting a 4# pulley on there.... Or is it safe to say tuned right, the nitrous is safer?

Have your timing lowered and do a 75 shot with the 4lb lower. Even though I haven't been spraying lately I still purge at the locals.

Shane, Bad example comparing mine right now, I have new Chip programs this yr with too low of timing and can only go 12.7's on Filter, Chip, N 4lb Pulley.
(2) 12.0's, (1) 12.2, + (1)12.3 with the Juice ""and same set up"".

AS far as the extra Upper Pulley, believe it or not I run better
AND FASTER times with the 4lb than 6, GO FIGURE ????
I know it's because I don't let it cool down. It's too much heat, and over spinning the S/C. Soon I'll make some 6 lb all gas runs with more timing, I may even let it cool down for once.

so stick with the 4#er and do some more bolt ones away from the supercharger? If I do an upper I will create more heat than boost and lose power?

Does somebody sell a kit that includes the stock size puley and the 1-2 pound pulley in a interchangeable kit. I want to run 4lb on normal driving and 5-6 on weekends and the track.

I hear about L owners wanting to get the most out of their trucks before turning to NOS. However isn't the 4#er usually the crossroads of continuing our performance mods with NOS in mind or without? I believe MM&FF mag said, anything above 16# of boost, we should be using 98 or higher octane.

Quick Reply: What are my options for upper pulleys if I already have a 4# lower...
