Vinnie,

In my haze from being at RJ's for the past 7 hours, I remember a bunch of posts saying that those Stage 8 locking fasteners were a real pain in the arsh. They are hard to get on, especially in the tight areas we have to work with, and impossible to get off.

I say, just check the bolts every month or so and you'll be fine. Of course the first week you'll have to check them a few times. Heck, they are easier to check than the plugs!

I used the star type washer that has the little barbs on both sides.

My header bolts on my mustang would back out and I put the stage 8 bolts on and they have never backed out. I have had them on now for almost 2 years. No problems and they were not that hard to install. Can not speak for the lightning though. Good luck.

All of my motors with headers use these bolts. The beauty is, when you get into a tight spot with them, you break out the allen head bit and wrench them down. Then, install the C clips to keep the bolt from backing out. Worth the $40 they cost. Plus, they are all stainless.

Like a few of the others, I used them on a Mustang I used to own. No problems with them, and they work well. The clips can be a pain to get on/off, but no way would I want to check header bolts every month.

Vinnie

I use to use those on the exhaust on the old Harley Shovelheads. The exhaust bolts would allways back out, locktight or not. Something about winding out those old strockers......hehe
The where the answer for lost bolts

Now I could see a problem in the tight quarters of the headers, but if Flying **** says they work for him, thats good enough for me........
