Seems that many of you want the issues with the S/C 5.4 to be instantly fixed under warranty and then a redesign implemented to solve the problem for next year. Dont you think that the fact that the S/C 5.4 is a big hit is an advantage for us ? The more there are the more likely the fixes will come out. The more parts the aftermarket will make. The more likely the next gen Lightnig will have even MORE power. To think that Ford would not take advantage of a sucessful popular engine like the S/C 5.4 and put in on more applications is crazy.

As far as I'm concerned let them do, that means more parts available for us plus maybe with the lincoln guys blowing rods and plug popping out of the heads they'll fix the problems.

For the sticker price of a new Lightning, I think Ford should offer better value.
That's what I'm thinking. It's time for Ford (FoMoCo) to quit being so cheap and invest in some R&D instead of throwing the same old technology into everything they have. They even took the cheap road for the '03 Cobra by throwing a blower on it when they could have made a N/A 390 Motor.

If they want to compete with the new Escalade, they should come up with a HP Navigator engine, not just save a buck and throw a Lightning engine in it.

Geez you guys get bent out of shape easily. You act as though FORD hit you in the nuts b/c the Harley got the same S/C 5.4. They did de-tune it by 40 hp and put a 2 piece drive shaft on it. The practice of de-tuning is common for the auto industry.

You should be glad that you have a "bigger brother" out there that can help promote the blue oval as a serious competitor. FORD now makes two bada$$ trucks that can mop up the chevys including the SS Silverado.

Personally, I never would have bought the Harley if it didn't have the S/C. It would just have been an appearance package with no ballz. By the way if the navigator concept is built, I think they should de-tune it also.

If they build it, I will come!!!

I like it, for a few reasons. One, it's more transmissions that will have to come from the plant I work in, more jobs! Second, it mya well be enough for them to justify building the 4R100 longer on a limited basis, and from my point of view the 4R100 is a lot more fun to work on than the torqshift 5 speed. If I had my way, they'd keep the 4R100 for the Lightinings after all the other ones are gone, I'd like to see a line that basically hand builds Monster Boxes from the factory, mush like the Niche Line for the Cobra engines. The L isn't enough to justify doing that but throw in the HD and this and maybe they would. Also, a lot of things I do to a tranny Ford could just as easily do, but they don't because of Model build matrix compexity (I love big words). For instance, one thihg an L tranny doens't get that I think it should is a 5 plate direct clutch. We could easily build them that way, the parts are here allready, but as it is, the rule is "gas, 4 plate, diesel 5 plate", and I think they more or less won't make it "gas 4 plate EXCEPT for the 5X" it just makes aonterh oppertunity for a misbuild, but if they only had one model (there are now about 30) it wouldn't matter. There are about half a dozen things like that, and if they didn't have all these other models (which all go away next year, the 4R100 is almost done) they could do them all, it wouldn't be hard, and you could get a real nice tranny from the factory too! Just my thoughts...and I would drive a SC Navi, in a New York minute!!
Another thing, if they do build it, by the time it came out we'd be in the GEN3 Ls anyway, and I'm looking for 500/525 or better from them.

Autoweek 2-3 wks ago mentioned new

guy in charge of "combined performance division", for get the name of it or the guy? Didn't mention Coletti at all? Think this portends more performance models from all divisions of Ford. SC Navi may well be built?
