The way I read it

Ford is just trying to create some buzz by announcing this is a concept.. they will then see what the response is from the general public.. lets face it... there will be some that would be willing to pay the extra for the L motor in a Nav.. remember the damn things already cost 50k.. so now the engine treatment is going to cost another 5-10k on top of that.. the market for this is pretty small.. furthermore, is anyone here worried that a Nav is going to outshoot them anywhere at anytime? (not me, and mine is essentially stock)..
I do agree that if you put more of these engines out there then there is more market for the tuners and hopefully some of the cost of the perf parts for our engines would drop, although that will not probably be the case.
The Lightning is what it is not JUST because of the engine but also because of the handling, styling, etc...
So its not a done deal yet and I for one am not going to worry about it one bit... but if they make one, I might just have to trade in the wifes SUV and get one,,, ( he he ).. and drive around getting 8 mpg because I would be on the boost the whole time...

Why all the whining? These are all Ford family vehicles. Nobody said owning a Lightning gave you excluse design rights.
Why would anyone complain about Ford having the fastest production truck and SUV. Get over yourselves. Geez, this forum can be irritating at times.

Performance

Substance

Exclusivity

Value

I think throwing SVT motors into more cars, dilutes that "SVT promise."

And for those of you who don't knw this, Coletti hates having HIS engineers work being used by other teams in Ford.

Um, isn't that what SVT is? An exlcusive vehicle for the individual who wants an above average car to enjoy the thrill of driving? Things like limited production runs, options unavailable on normal models ...

Thats what most of us are annoyed about. Basically Ford is just taking SVT and selling out like pretty much everything else out there.

At least with the Harley truck it's another specialty limited production truck. But the Navigator????

SVT is ford only.

That's why the Cougar S that was promised for so long but ford lamed out on was never a Cougar SVT, although it was heavily based on the SVT contour. Same way a Marauder is not an Grand Marquis SVT Marauder.

Let me put this into perspective for you Max Torque...

You own a 1996-01 Cobra. Lets say SVT didnt make the 03 Terminator Cobra and just stuck a 345 hp 4V in it.

Along comes Ford with a Mach 1 with the same 4V motor, only slated for 320 hp. I think you would kind of be pissed off that you basically paid more and a lower level MUSTANG got your power plant.

This is the same regarding the Lighting vs Harley.

First and foremost, its not MY fault that Harley's prior to 02 didnt sell for ****. Personally, i think they are a tad bit to gawdy and i dont fit the rebel Harley look as a person. They should of stuck with the n/a Harley and scrapped them after 03 like the contract states.

They then take an EXCLUSIVE engine from the Lightning and shove it into their truck. This is WRONG and basically everything regarding owning an SVT vehicle, shot out the roof is far as im concerned. They could have thrown in a Navi motor or something.

Its not about whining, its about PRINCIPAL. Thats what SVT was originally about. Ever since 2002, things seem to be going down the ****ter with Ford Marketing.

Well put ****.

The Harley's would have been fine with a 32v n/a 5.4 dammit.

Damnit, here we go again... I think I'll stay out of this one, since I was labelled as one of the biggest whiners in the original "Harley is getting the Lightning engine" thread.

Ford better bring out that Gen3 Lightning damn soon then.

But wait, I thought the Lightning was a Collectors Edition Truck? You mean the exclusivity of the SVT powerplant will go out the window, and it will just become another number?

Imagine that, or something...
