what? that was one of the last good years for the Cobra. the cobra has fallen off since the modular engine conversion in 1996.
also, the Cobra did suffer huge setbacks when it was taken over in 1994 by Team Mustang. SVT did a great job in getting the 93 Cobra and Lightning together.

I'm not jealous. It's just I don't know how many times I've herd beat my friend now or race my friends car he'll beat you. If he wants to race, fine. I will. I don't think my car is the fastest out there. I have had my @$$ handed to me a few times. Your statement almost sounds to me like you're the one that is jealous. And yes I would love to own a lighting. I have been thinking of buying one.

 

BTW - I sold my 2002 true blue "L" last week and bought a 2003 dark shadow gray Cobra................

What is the difference between his "my friend's truck is faster than yours" and you showing up with a different vehicle (which could very easily be your friends car anyway)................Jealousy is in the eye of the non-beholder, calling me the jealous one is a bit silly, don't you think? I'm the one with the "L" (or Cobra now) not the one with the souped-up Si.............

 

True, it is the fastest yet... What I meant was that they just aren't appealing anymore. I have disliked the changes made since 1996 - thus why i don't own one.
True, the '03 does have power and a beefier engine... but, you will launch halfshafts. I feel the quality level is just not there. I am happy with my '93 Cobra. It's as quick as an 03 (yes, mine is mostly stock), turns more heads, and I feel it is more comfortable.

 

I doubt any of us are jealous. We've all been beat at one point in our life. I go to the track and there are 9 and 10 second civics. Anything can be made fast, hell, I can make my lawnmower fast if I wanted to put the time and money into it. But why would I? In the end, its still just a stupid old lawnmower.

The problem here is that your story sounds like total BS, and you've only posted 8 times and you come on a LIGHTNING forum and post a false story that bashes Lightnings? Why not post it at www.honda-tech.com where it belongs?

 

No, in fact in stock trim it's pretty quiet not unlike the "L". I pulled the silencer last night and dropped in a K&N unitl I can find a good CAI, and the blower noise picked up, but it's a faster pitched whine. All in all, I prefer the blower noise from the "L" but I couldn't pass up the chance to try another Cobra.

I would agre with you that the 93 was (and still is) a good representation of SVT's commitment to providing an upgraded platform over the GT, however I owned a 97 Cobra and I think it was (and still is) one of the best motor platforms to build on. I had an s-trim Vortech on mine along with other gadgets and mine made well over 400 horses and I never had a problem with it in the 22 months I drove it. There were plenty of 10 second Cobras running around in the late 1997's through 98. The new 2003 S/C platform has its problems, but overall its a mean machine.......

 

Yeah the blower whine is my favorite part of the whole deal. Im glad that Ford finally put the "venom" back into the cobra again.
