ok ok ok I know that your brochure says 360hp but a more accurate figure is like 345 as Ford fell short and just upped the number a bit for looks
oh and you dont think that holds true for the 01-02 whatever

Well the only thing thats retarded is YOUR TIMING as you try to make more boost to keep up with DA 02's.
ummmm...O-K

You don't break drive shafts because you don't make enough torque.
no its because we have steel drive shafts vs the aluminum tooth picks

The modded trucks blow rods. Think about it....take a 380hp engine and add 6additional pounds of boost and a chip vs. a 345hp (or whatever you say it is) and add 6 additional pounds of boost and a chip Now which one is making more power??
yeah think about it ... 360 + a number = one hp amount
380 + the same number = 20 hp more just like before the mods... .wow im impressed again by the logic pouring out of you

Arrow Listen up Dammit!!

Nasty-

The two main differences between the 99/00's and the 01/03's to get that 35 hp is....

1) Larger maf and fender opening for the cold air intake...

2) A better tune on the computer...

So, 99/00's with a cone filter and chip are making the same power as the 01/03's with filters and chips...

As for the gear ratio.... well... MAYBE you have an advantage in the 60 ft, but the 3.92 ratio will have a higher top end, and higher mph in the quarter.

So... only some one without the proper knowledge MIGHT think that it's a "slower" STOCK 99, but then again, it's hard to find a stock one....
The first half of you post I agree with because it is what I said earlier...People mod the 99/00 so that they can keep up with the 01/02/03's. Ofcourse you did explain why we make more power but that doesn't change the fact that we do it. As far as your take on the gear ratio thingy let me get YOU straight. Everyone who has dragged raced their L knows that key to a low ET is a good 60'foot. The 1/2/3's have enough hp to pull the numerically bigger gears all the way through the 1/4 !!! Thats the advantage of the additional 35hp. Got that Dammit.

I love how you still believe the 01-02 make 380 stock no matter what....thats so ignorant....even if they did and mine only made 340 hp..your still not kicking anyone's ***...its just not that big of a margin to act as if your 01 or 02 has "SOOOO MUCH POWER!", and the margin for driver error is much larger. But whatever, Its not worth my time arguing

Back to the wheels....

I like the 01/02's.

If I go for a different set of wheels, I am looking at those 18in Cragar S/S's.

Smile are we having fun yet?

oh and you dont think that holds true for the 01-02 whatever
Absolutely not!!!!

no its because we have steel drive shafts vs the aluminum tooth picks
Good God man, you can pick your teeth with 5" aluminum drive shafts?

yeah think about it ... 360 + a number = one hp amount
380 + the same number = 20 hp more just like before the mods... .wow im impressed again by the logic pouring out of you
Whoa nelly, the restrictions that limits you to a lesser amount of HP in the first place play an even more restrictive roll in a modded L. So it won't be a mere 35hp (or whatever you said) less it will be about 50-60ish less. But you did get the main picture that if you start with more you'll end up with more.

so tell me something...did you run that 13.07 1/4 time with those mods you listed in your sig?

the restrictions that limits you to a lesser amount of HP in the first place play an even more restrictive roll in a modded L
uh huh...im sorry to tell you this but you have THE SAME ENGINE AS ME...just because ford put a 90mm MAF and tuned the chip to be more agressive doesnt mean you dont have the same damn truck and engine. But like I was saying, your not going to undertstand so forget it already :o .....back to the wheel opinions Im done with this thread

Arrow lets get something straight.

Konig it seems as though you've become somewhat unhappy with our conversation. Maybe you missed the very bottom of this post. I was only looking to have a little friendly fun before I leave home for work but if you got pissed then thats no fun. My logic in this entire ordeal has been centered on picking fun with the 99/00 guys. It is well known that these trucks can also haul *** if you have a black one you'll know what I mean.(I hope you saw the humor in that). Anyway scroll down to bottom of my quote I think you missed it.

Your truck came stock with a measly 360hp and not the MACHO 380hp that the ones with the pretty wheels came with!!

I don't have a problem with them as I don't own one besides I told the original thread starter to use them if he wanted to.

Now you are taking shots at me personally by saying I'm retarded. Well the only thing thats retarded is YOUR TIMING as you try to make more boost to keep up with DA 02's.

You shouldn't consider your truck inferior....what kind of owner would do that. Thats like considering your child inferior because he/she can't run as fast as the neighbor's child (who happens to be a year or two younger)....what kind of parent would you be?

You don't break drive shafts because you don't make enough torque.

As far as blowing rods go, the stock trucks don't blow the rods. The modded trucks blow rods. Think about it....take a 380hp engine and add 6additional pounds of boost and a chip vs. a 345hp (or whatever you say it is) and add 6 additional pounds of boost and a chip Now which one is making more power?? Its the stress of all that power over the 99/00 that exists in the 01/02's thats breaking rods. Hell if you took that 02 with the chip and pulley and removed 35 hp the rods would be safe in that one too. Sometimes we are too strong(hp) for our Damn Selves!

Btw I am only joking....have been from my first post I just wanted to start some crap and have fun with someone.

I dont get upset with online conversations...I dont know you well enough to care that much. Its fine if you were just pulling my leg but when you try to support a bs statement with more bs instead of just saying J/K and only J/K..then yeah Im going to speak my mind. Forgive and forget, I may not agree with you but your still part of the L community and have the right to say whatever you want...no hard feelings

Absolutely. On F1's. I'll try to scan the timeslip and post it if you want to see it. It was an incredible night. I made 5 passes :13.13 - 13.10 - 13.10 - 13.09 - 13.07 not in that order, I can't remember the order except I ran a 13.10 first and then 13.09 and then 13.07 everything gets cloudy after that. If you want to see the timeslip let me know. I should be able to scan it in tomorrow as I have to leave for work now. Later.

almost got my attention routed toward another topic as I was reading the responses. But I have cleared my mind.

I like the 01-02 wheels better. If the 99-00 are in chrome, they look much better than the satin silver color.

my ranking
1) 02 Chrome
2) 99 Chrome
3) 02 Silver
4) 99 Silver

The first half of you post I agree with because it is what I said earlier...
ok... Since we ARE just having fun... Don't you have enuff savvy to break the quote down to individual topics?

People mod the 99/00 so that they can keep up with the 01/02/03's.
Well... TECHNICALLY speaking... a LOT of 99's and 00's were MODDED b4 the 01-03's came out, so Ford actually ADJUSTED THEM to keep up with the modded 99/00's....

Ofcourse you did explain why we make more power but that doesn't change the fact that we do it.
Not after a cone filter and chip... at that point, the hp should be the same. ok... ok... Gotta change the MAF too....

After that you might say well... I'll run a chip too... Well, that doesn't work. I can get the same specs with the tune on my chip as the 01-03 gets with theirs, even with their aftermarket chip.

As far as your take on the gear ratio thingy let me get YOU straight. Everyone who has dragged raced their L knows that key to a low ET is a good 60'foot. The 1/2/3's have enough hp to pull the numerically bigger gears all the way through the 1/4 !!!
uhhh... you ARE messed up there... 3.92's and 4.10's make getting the vehicle moving easier. There are MORE engine rev's per wheel revolution. Therefore, since the engine rpm's are practically topped out in the 1/4, my mph will be higher than yours. Put more simply, I'll catch you in the end... ALL OTHER THINGS BEING EQUAL.

Why not put any higher ratios? Because there IS a limit. The L is already close with the 3.73's. A smaller wheel and more profile would give better traction, but with 3.92's that smaller diameter tire will have you making lower MPH's and (probably) higher ET's.

It's all give and take...

To further illustrate my point, had you participated in the boards in 99 and 2k, you would know that one of the main topics of discussion was that 4.10's and the smaller diameter drag radials (only thing available at the time) were improving 60 ft's, but with little improvement in ET. Do a search....

Got that Dammit.
Shouldn't there be a question mark after that question? And to answer the question...

NOPE!

OH! Back on topic...

I think the 99/00 wheels are the best....

And no, I'm not partial anymore... I traded the L on a HD...

The 20" 01/02 chrome replicas are JUST as nice... if not nicer...
