buy your self a new computer (should cost about 375-425) and have it programmed for the truck.. (any halfway reputable shop should be able to do this..) Now when you have done this then have ford come and get the truck.. But Dont try to blame ford for the problems.. And good luck Kegger

I have a Question on another line of thinking...

Many of us frequently discuss the computer mods and how to hide the evidence....Aside from the cost, why not buy an L computer, get it programmed, add our modded chips and use it in place of the factory computer? If you have a problem, swap in the orriginal computer that has not been tampered with...Isn't the computer just "plug and play" (I havn't modded my truck at all...yet) Any thoughts?

I’m pretty sure I read in on of the other threads that if you switch out your computer with a new one your keys will no longer work. You have to get it programmed to work with your keys.

KEGGER187 Quote:

Also, as I stated earlier, my oil pressure is at 0, and I can see underneath the truck that it all drained out. Couldn't find any holes in the block though. The oil seemed to be dripping from a copper/gold cylindrical shaped piece down near the bottom of the block. What is that gold thing?

????????????

So your sure all the oil drained out ?...HMMMMMMMM??? Gold thing near the bottom of the block HMMMMM???? KEGGER187, do you own a digital camera or do you have access to one?

dude, find out more about a high performancec vehicle before you mod it. It's just stupid to dive into 35k truck moddin it without knowing knowing all the what when wehre why and how's about it. Do your homework next time so you don't make a stupid mistake.

i would recommend taking the truck to a non-ford dealership mechanic that you trust and see if you can get more diagnostics then simply looking yourself....

your dipstick is fine...our trucks come like that...

You could buy another Lightning, swap engines, have the "new" one fixed under warranty, and then sell one of them.

Here is a quote from an old post.

iculokn-

i could honestly care less about your "bs meter" You really want a list of my mods, here you go:

boost bypass
tr-6's
ram air
2/3 SO-CAL drop
6# upper
diablo chip
flowmaster full w/ removal of cats
autometer boost gauge
150 dry shot
still running f1's
removal of hitch and spare
a few other lightening mods
5k in audio mods- 600watt amp powering front 6 component setup and 5x7 rears, eclipse titanium 10's in custom box running off 550 watt amp, premier deck
12" antennae
exta lightning wheel and tire as spare
reprogrammed intake computer
that's as much as i can remember at the moment

There's your answer

oh yeah, rear sway bar
Did I hear 6lb """UPPER""" WTF ???
TR-6's and 6 lb lowers DO NOT GO TOGETHER. I know some do it even with 5's but that should be for the Pro's + Veterians that do Chip tuning on a Dyno "IMO". I ran TR-6's and absolutely hated them from day one, eventually (3) melted big time. I run a 4 lower and 2-3 upper and have 15-16 lbs of Boost with no problems, (the upper is off right now for the winter) I'm not that daring after the melt down, BUT IT GOES BACK ON EARLY SPRING. Toast hit it on the head, a bad tank of gas can kill a Lightning in seconds.
Caught mine in time

Toast wasn't so lucky
Fuel delivery is what kills these Motors, some of us just haven't figured that out yet.

Dude...as far as buying a new PCM...forget it!

I had a problem with my PATS (erased my key codes--left my key in the ignition and disconnected the battery/computer)....I bought a new computer because I busted a prong on my original when re-installing it after I got my chip reburned......long story short: They needed my VIN--old computer for core trade-in....and needed the truck with the new PCM. All my trucks info had to be reflashed--or as they put it (downloaded) while in the truck....So as far as buying a PCM from somewhere and just throwing it in yourself---FORGETTABOUTIT EH!

Email me if you would like to know any more from my learning expierence--thats what the forum is for!

Good luck---

Ditto, this is exactly what I was thinking
unless the new one is slightly slower for some reason.
