ok fine be that way.....I actually don't have a clue as to what I really paid for my Tomas since I added about 4K in add-ons and mods before I even picked him up from the dealership.

I thought they gave 4 x 2's away free with the purchase of an Escort.

You're almost right logical. They're not making the escort anymore... the FOCUS line has replaced that. If you purchase a used escort, you only got a 4X2 Ranger... now, if you purchased a rice-burner wannabe Focus... that's where you got the Free KING RANCH!!

Of course, I revved my focus up on the carpet a few too many times and broke it.... *shrugs* oh well.

Hey RP......

You should see the latest Focus RS announced in the British motoring press today....early tests show it blowing away Impezas and the like.....it will revive the RS line of Rally Cars which did so well in The World rally Championship.

Do you ever get to see any rounds of the World Rally ?

Seeing Colin MacRae blasting through a forest stage on loose shale at over 100 mph with thick forest a few feet either side makes for some great viewing.

The funny thing was that they thought about bringing a round of the championship to the USA but after some research found that a lot of the target audience thought that world rallying was a game invented for the playstation by Sony and didn't actual take place in the real world!!!

220HP Focus in Europe

It will be called the Focus RS and Europeans will be able to buy it starting this October.

0-62.5mph= 5.7 seconds!
2 liter turbo engine
AWD

Goes against the Civic Type R, Leon Cupra R and the WRX in Europe.

Recaro seats, Brembo brakes, 18 inch OZ wheels, carbon fiber in the interior and the starter uses a button a-la S2000.

Limited edition. Half of them have been sold before the price was announced (price is still not announced).

Price will be less than £20.000 ($30.000).......no doubt if you ever get them over there they will be cheaper....like everything else !!!

PS RS stands for Rallye Sport (Yes spelt like that), from the old Rally division of Ford Motor Sport.

Just like a car company

To build a car like the Focus RS, and sell it in countries other than ours. (GM's guilty too with the bada$$ Holden they sell in Australia)

With the import tuner market & the pocket-rocket phenomena, do they not think there's a market for these cars in the US?

Jumping back to Marc STewart's original post...

What you need to try to do is find a dealership that will give you an 'x-plan' deal. That is about your best bet. I believe that dufunnel has done some research on the 02's and 03's recently with prices and such. Maybe he can shed some light...

Heck man, with the interest rates that are out there right now (0% for 5 years!!), it'd be hard not to pick an 02 over an 03... just my opinion though.

Good luck with your selection. Feel free to ask us questions... there's a pretty sharp bunch here.... we all love to run with scissors.

On the focus thing, is one of the reasons you don't see some of those cars here is because the emissions laws? I know some of the emision stuff really cuts the HP.

Also, I heard of a story, there's a guy in TX or somewhere that was fitting the 4.6L V8 in the focus. Now that would be fun. I never heard anything else to verify that though.

As far as the best price on a KR, X-plan is about as good as you're gonna get unless you can get A-plan. The X-plan price is pretty close to invoice within a coupole hundred. If you're gonna buy now you'll be better off with the 02 because you'll get the incentives. We priced out an 03 Expi and they aren't offering anything on the 03's yet. Also another thing to think about, if you are willing to wait a year or so, they new 5.4L will have a substantial HP boost. I haven't heard any more news on it other than it was expected in the last half of 03, and it was going to be somewhere between 310 and 325hp. Anyone else have any more info on that? I'm not gonna seriously consider a new Expi untill the new engine is out. That, and I can save a ton by driving my cruddy old 99 expi while it's paid for.

Gee, when I saw I had 10 replies to my message, I thought I would have some good feedback. HOWEVER!!! everyone wants to talk about some dumb a$$ focus, or escort.

RockPick, thanks for getting back to the point of the original post. This is the KR area of the 150 message board isn't it????!!! Sarah has a friend working to get me an x-plan. That will probably be the direction I go. Thanks for that information.

Sarah, I did receive e-mail from Steve. I have sent him a message back and hope to have some questions answered soon.

Glad I could help steer the course there Marc. Typically, however, it's me that's diverging from the conversation to make a smart **** remark or reply. Sorry...it's just our nature.

Yeah, we talk about our trucks frequently but, a conversation that begins as a tire question will quickly become a 'how to make a baby' or 'the best beer on earth' conversation. It's strange...hard to explain even.

Just go with the flow. There are a certain few of our readers (I'm not sure that I can count myself in this category) that read the forum for information and information only. They lurk. Popping up with responses to things that they know about and understand. I do this sometimes as well but... I'm more of a 'chatter'.

We have fun here. I consider everyone in the King Ranch Forum a friend (except lenny) LMAO!! ROFL!! LOL!! JK!! I think we'd all bend over backwards to help eachother out and we'd do the same for you. You just have to understand that we poke at eachother alot (see the lenny comment above) and we have a good time. It's not strictly information... it's a good time most of the time.

Welcome to our forum. Please feel free to post any questions/comments/dirty jokes/etc.. here. I guarantee you, someone will have something to say about it.

ENJOY!

RockPick,

Thanks for the info. As you can probably tell, I am new to the site and at the moment, am pretty focused about my information gathering. I am one of those shoppers who will look for about three months, read, shop, ask questions, etc., then go all out and get what I want. At the moment, I am riding the fence on what I should do about a possible purchase as I know there are good incentives available out there right now, and the price ALWAYS goes up every year.

I am always the first in line for a good joke and have been known to post many smart a$$ remakrs on the sport trac web site.

So, sorry if my tone was a bit harsh, but I thought I was really going to have some good feedback on my post, and everybody is over in left field talking about a damn escort!!

Anyway, look for me to be a regular on this page. I also post on the Super Crew page as well. I have lots of questions about the KR.

Look forward to talking with you guys later. And I don't want a refund on my membership

Marc
