Black KR Leather option in 2011
Found the following comments in the article on pickuptruck.com related to the new 2011 Super Duty very interesting:
The famous King Ranch trim package gets a few changes. The iconic Castano orange leather seats can be swapped for black ones. The interior can also be equipped with black carpeting in addition to the traditional camel color.
Black is a more contemporary color, Brewer said, and it hides dirt better. Don’t worry about hot, black seats in summer; cooled seats will be standard on the KR truck.

Can't wait to see how that looks!!!

Even more odd to me is that they still called them Castano leather... Castano leather hasn't been around since 2007 on the Super Duty... they switched to Chapparal in 2008.
I feel confident that this move - again - away from a brown color is a direct response to warranty claims due to folks buying a KR and not knowing how to care for it. It has long since been our opinion here that the move from Castano to Chapparal leather was due to exactly this... Black would be easier to maintain due to one simple thing -- it doesn't show dirt nearly as bad.
I'm with the rest of the group... this isn't a KR. If someone wants a HD edition, get a HD edition. Further, if you want to offer a black interior, put it on the FX4 (ala: f150).
While I'm all about options and choices, I've had two KR's (a 2001 and a 2005 currently)at this point in time and it's my opinion that Ford is really moving away from what the KR brought to the truck market. Disappointing...

For all the same reasoning.
Someone at Ford needs a good kicking for a stupid decision that has just not been thought through.

Relax everyone. I just read the black leather option is actually the Queen Ranch. The black leather will be stretched really, really tight on the cushions with multi-colored cording and stitching. Sales will start in San Fransisco and Hollywood, where they anticipate sales to skyrocket. The pink leather option tanned with a new process that smells like baby powder has been sandbagged for another year until the 1980's Iris color is reintroduced.
On the real note, I concurr with all. Give me Castano, or give my vinyl!
