Water leak on window pillar handle?

I have an 02 KR with sunroof and noticed this morning after a nasty night of wind and rain that I have some water dripping off from the passenger side grab handle on the window pillar. You can actually see just a little bit coming out of the base of the handle where it mounts. Anyone else ever have this issue? Could the sunroof seal be leaking a little down the pillar? I have a towel on the seat for now to keep it from getting wet.

I've tried doing a little searching for you but, haven't put my finger on the thread(s) that deal with this issue yet...

This is a well documented and known issue... spend some time dredging with the search feature here at f150online.com and I feel confident that you'll find some information. Best of luck... I'll give it another go and try to help out further shortly...

Hey Rock, how about a plugged drain hole in the sunroof?

LOL.... I've been living with the same thing for the past 5 years on the driver's side... since I hardly use my 02 KR anymore, I've resorted to tying a microfiber cloth to the grab handle & letting that absorb any drops when it rains....

One trick I heard from a glass guy was to touch up the inside of the rain gutter as well as the top of the windshield (underneath rubber gasket) with clear fingernail enamel..... (how permanent this fix is debatable I guess)

With everything else to do around the house/family/etc, fixing the leak has remained near the bottom of my "to-do" list... it's easier to just let microfiber cloth hang there... :o

I had the same issue. I used a flexible straw, put it in the drain hole for the sunroof and blew them out with a air compressor. (had to do the exact same thing on the wifes JEEP Patriot...lol) I also resealed the top corners of the windshiels , behind the rubber gasket, with a thin layer of clear silicone. Not sure which one it was, but it hasn't leaked since....lol

P.S. if you go the silicone route, just for a little learned knowledge to pass on, after you place the small bead onto the seal spray it with rubbing alcohol before you smooth it out with your figer. The alcohol will keep it from smearing and leaving a film on any exposed part of the truck.

There is a Technical Service Bulletin (03-7-1) which addresses this issue. It involves removing the sunroof frame and grinding down and resealing the frame to body contact area.
