Let Me Apologize First - Leather Conditioning Question

Lenticular - who has more car knowledge and experience with ultra-fine leathers than most anyone here - loves the stuff and uses it regularly.

EErrrr, yes Emmiitt240, as dear Rockpick says some of us do use it regularly.
I have been using the KR Conditioner now for ......Can it really be 7 years since the first KR came out ?!
I have also tried most of the other products too.
Connolly Hide Food was my preferred product but not so easy to get hold of.....they were the original company that supplied both Rolls Royce and other prestigious companies.
It was hard work though and needed to be worked into the leather.
I have always found the KR conditioner relatively easy to work with and could do the F150 in around 20 minutes. The Expy with its extra seats takes a little longer.
The strange thing is that in all the years I have been using the stuff I've never had this white haze left behind.
(Emmitt...don't tell anyone I said this........but I don't think they use it properly....just between you and me eh?!)

Have you used it on the Castano and, if so, have any pointers?

Yes I have used it on several occasions.
I honestly can't say its any better or worse than any of the other conditioners.
I think you would need to use it for many years on leather to prove a point.
It is a little harder work than other conditioners as it is a thicker cream....and it needs a liitlte more effort to work it in.
Interestingly car afficionados who regularly deal with fine leather actually call the process of conditioning....Connollising !!
I have remained faithful to it out of habit having used it as you know on several RR and Bentley motor cars., and it was always the product recommended by RR themselves.....and I think they know what they are talking about when it comes to leather !!
My 1936 Rolls Royce was sold several years ago now, but all I can say is that it had been treated with Connolly all its life and the leather was a supple as you could wish after 60 years..
I wonder how many of our KR's will be around in 2068 !!!!
I can't remember if I ever posted the link to Connolly in the Leather Care sticky, but here it is again....makes interesting reading.

SINCE 1980, TANNERIES HAVE GRADUALLY MOVED AWAY FROM THE DURABLE NITRO-CELLULOSE BASED COLOURED FINISHES ONTO WATER-BASED. MANY TANNERIES STILL USED A SOLVENT-BASED CLEAR LACQUER TO PROTECT THESE DELICATE COATINGS UP UNTIL THE 1990'S. NOW, BECAUSE OF TOUGH NEW RESTRICTIONS IMPOSED BY INSURANCE & ENVIROMENTAL ISSUES, THIS IS WATER-BASED TOO. THIS PRODUCT RECIPE WAS DEVELOPED BY "CONNOLLY LEATHER" TO KEEP THEIR OLD FINISHES SUPPLE. BECAUSE IT USES WHITE SPIRIT TO EMUSIFY THE WAX & LANOLINE, THIS CAN BE A LITTLE HARSH ON MODERN, SOFTER LEATHERS. ALWAYS USE SPARINGLY & TEST AN UNOBTRUSIVE AREA FIRST.
However as I said previously I have used it on KR leather with no ill effects.

Secondly, in the heat of South Texas, any darkening probably lasted about 4 seconds !!!
Ummmm kay. I'll eventually give it a whirl but, from the sounds of it, I should not be prepared to be blown away.
While I'd agree that having the backing of RR and other manufacturers of that particular caliber will certainly 'add to the stock value' of the product, I'm sensing a particular tone of "...it's just okay..." rather than, "...try it, you'll spring a leak using it because it is a product that is second to none!".
That said, I'll try it and see if it's okay or if I tinkle upon myself.

Its either that or rain on your own parade.....rain ???!!
Lent after using the KR Conditioner today I would have to say you must be correct. The stuff works fantastic and not a hint of any type of white haze. Seats look great and the smell is just as nice as the fresh from the factory smell. Good thing I got 2 bottles to begin.... Now the only question is.....how long will they last.
Thanks. I still plan to give that CPR a try as well. Who knows I might like it better. My only wish now is that the weather will get better around here so I can get the outside cleaned up. Cold and rainy here lately.
