How long has a King Ranch model been available?

I'd always thought they were a fairly new thing going back a few years, but found what's listed as an 86 King Ranch on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-...31151545QQrdZ1

Nowhere near as nice as the current ones, was just surprised to see it, anyone have any details on when the deal with King Ranch and Ford goes back to, and what the different models along the way have been?

Gotta love that Castano!

The KR was first available from Ford for the 2001 model year. It was available in a SUPERCREW only. The colors were: Chestnut Brown, Estate Green, and Charcoal Blue.

What you're looking at on ebay is definitely an added set of 'keywords' so that it'll show up in a search... or, maybe, the guy is a bit confused about what the KR trim package entails.

The truck in the link provided is an XL.

I thought the king ranch was added over the lariat not the XL. Like RP said it was just added key wording to catch more viewers.

That's what I figured, but had to pause for a second since there are KR emblems and the two tone tan along the bottom....but none of the other bells and whistles...

Are you sure about that? There have been several different occasions driving around town when I have seen an extended cab King Ranch 4x4. One was a stepside in the charcoal blue color, the other was a normal supercab in the chestnut brown color. I have looked inside them and they have the castano leather and everything....

In 2001 it all started intro in the supercrew only fashion. Then after that came the supercab versions.

I'm positive about that. 2002 or 2003 yielded the SuperCab version... can't remember which. The SuperCab came in Flare or Styleside...

Additionally, 02 and 03 yielded Oxford White and Black as well...

Oh. Well I wish they would bring back the King Ranch Supercab. I prefer the supercab because the bed is longer and there's still a back seat.

Personal preference, I guess.

Then again, if they made a KR supercab it would take away one of the unique qualities of the KR (only available in Supercrew).

My KR is a 2002 SuperCab model. 2002 had the SuperCab and SuperCrew models with the SuperCab being the new offering over what was available in 2001. The bed on the SuperCab was only available in StyleSide for 2002 and the only colors available were Chestnut, Charcoal Blue, and Estate Green.

In 2003, the SuperCab models were offered in Flareside and Styleside. Colors added as mentioned by RP. Another change on the 2003 was the tube style side steps.

The SuperCab went away for 2004. SuperCrew added the 6.5 foot beb in 2006.

Looks like one of those car lots took this boy for a ride. Bad thing is the truck isn't even an XLT much less a KR. I like the crack about the Castano....classic!
