Looking at an overhead console.....

Hi I am thinking about installing an overhead console in my 97 F150 XL S/C. I was looking around on eBay tonight and I didn't see anything for the F150, but I did find a few for the Expedition and Explorer. I was just wondering if anyone had ever done this before. I know that I would need 12 + and ground up there, but what else? My truck is an XL without a lot of upgrades so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

CJ

You also need a wiring harness, mounting bracket, temp sensor and sun visors from a 2000-2002 F-150.

I installed an Explorer overhead console on my '97. Everthing cost me around $150.00.

If you do this and decide on the Exporer console, I'll give you the part #'s for everything you need.

One that looks like this. You don't need one with the sunroof switch. They show up all the time on eBay. As long as it's a '96 on, it should be fine.

Smile Overhead Console

I just picked up a 98 F150 extended cab and am looking to put in an overhead console. I've read the messages regarding the Explorer consoles and there are two available on eBay for bid. I also know that I need a wiring harness, sensors, and mounting bracket and new visors. Anything else I need? And do you still have the part numbers I need?

Thanks,

John Sampson

John,

I don't have the part #'s for the F-150. You should be able to find everything at www.fordpartsonline.com though and save a little compared to the local parts dealer.

I've had nothing but excellent results with

www.fordpartsnetwork.com

They're beyond excellent. Drop them a quick email and they'll respond within an hour during regular business hours. They're super ultra mega super duper fast.

Overhead Console

OK, I got the Explorer overhead console. It fits nicely once you get rid of the 98 sun visors. I'll check with the parts places on line that you've given me as well as my local Ford dealer.

Thanks,

John Sampson

Expedition console

So did anyone ever figure out what it would take to put the expedition console in there? Is it long enough that it would cover the existing dome light?
