How do I get the damn cup holder out?
How do I get the damn cup holder out?
This is driving me absolutely insane! Was running down the ranch road and jumped it over a cattle guard, forgetting that my GF had an open can of Pepsi. Can flipped up, over and landed perfectly in the same slot....upside down.
Soaked it out as best as I could with hot water and a rag.....would now like to pull it and disassemble for some mild soap and hot water soaking as it is still very sticky and nasty.
Anybody remove theirs?

If you look between the top of the cup holder and the dash. You will see a little tabs on either side.

Use a screw driver as a wedge and depress those tabs and pull. I do 1 side at a time and only a little at a time.

Wow!!!
You mean that the can of pop jumped out of the holder and landed back in place upside down? Man, I bet you could drive over cattle guards for the rest of your life and never repeat that magic trick.
Great tip . . . ! And, has anyone remove the cup holders from the fold-down center console, I lost about half of a medium regular from Dunkin' Donuts in there somewhere . . . !
I remember seeing were someone put an LED in their's, but I don't remember where . . . senior moment . . . try a search . . . DOH! :o
ADDED: I can't believe me . . . I searched for and found the post by 2000 F-150 with the install of the lights . . . I also found my post to him asking about removing the cup holder . . . and, it gets better, I found his reply to me with the instructions!

you don't even need a single tool - just use your hand! remove everything from the cupholders, place your thumb and fingers around the middle divider between the cup spots, squeeze, and yank it up. i've done it plenty of times.
The cup holders are not very secure when it comes to holding a cup. I also have a big 24 oz coffee mug that is small on the bottom to fit in a standard cup holder but it is top heavy. What I did to make it hold fast is take a 20 oz Poweraid bottle and cut about 2 inches off the bottom. This will fit very snug in the cup holder and then your cup/mug will fit very snug in the bottom of the cut off bottle. Maybe I should market it.
