How to fix your cup holder

This is my first post on f150online. Ive been viewing this site for at least the last year. But anyway i just wanted to help anyone that has the "Soft cup only" cup holders located below the radio. I noticed a few months ago that when i would go to push the tray back in it would stick then i would have to push it again and kinda pull it out. well not anymore my ocd caught up to me so i had to fix it.

step 1. remove the trim around your radio.

step 2. there are two screws that hold it in unscrew them and wiggle out the assyembly.

step 3. CAREFULLY pop the bottom of there are tabs along the outside you just lift and shimmy them off.

step 4. extend the tray when you do this you will see a clothes pin spring on steriods

step 5. bend the spring back against its self to tighten it up.

step 6. put it all back together.

what happens is after time that spring lossens up and doesnt have the power to push the tray past a camber system that holds it in. It also wouldn't hurt to through some white liethem grease back on the tracks. i hope this helps someone if anyone needs or wants i snaped a few pics through out the process. Ill be more than glad to put them up.

My cup holder started doing the same thing as you described. I also took mine apart and fixed it. Nice write up!

Definitely need to do this.... I was assuming that I spilled soda on the tracks or something that was preventing it from operation correctly but I will check this out.

Great timing! This helped a lot! I have an XLT with bucket seats. I just swapped out the large storage cubby and put in the "soft cup only" holder and the small storage cubby. This showed me how to better do it plus I did this little fix while I was at it.
