Steering wheel cover...

I have enough miles on my truck that, as I'm sure many of you have seen/will see...the steering wheel is slick. So I bought a Ford Racing steering wheel cover, and, functionally, it's great. But...since I live in the exceedingly hot TEXAS, it began to smell. Horribly bad. I've tried Febreeze, but it's still there. Any ideas? (Little tree mirror air fresheners are too powerful for my single cab, as the heat brings out all the scent very quickly, and is chokingly powerful.)
THX

I'm a steering wheel cover queen and I live in Houston. I have never had this problem...maybe it is the one you got?? Try taking it off and cleaning your steering wheel with GooGone Spray Gel real good. Then clean that cover too on the inside ring....leave it off for a day and see if that helps...maybe that steering wheel had something goin on?? Do you eat at McDonalds and drive...lol.

Wash your hands It is one of those leather ones so it could be something with the material I have used a ton of steering wheel covers and never had that problem either.

Wheel skins is the best thing going in my opinion. You have to 'stitch' it on and its a little tedious but it feels great and its real leather so the only smell is of leather. Its a quality cover for sure. They run about 35 to 40 bucks.

It is a nice cover, but it took awhile to stitch it on. I took my time so it would look good. The ONLY thing I didn't like is the fitment on the spokes, since there is no way to stitch it on the front of the spoke. I went through every hole on the face that way the stitching was the same all the way around. It turned out really well, and it is definitely the nicest steering wheel cover that I have seen. It is a good investment!
