Captain Chair cushion replacement

I'm ordering a replacement cushion for my drivers seat. I was wondering if anyone has replaced their cushion yet and had any words of advice. I did a search a while back and found a topic about it but now I can't find that thread again.

Thanks for any advice!!

In my last truck I had the foam replaced, from dragging my big @ss in and out of it, I flattened out the left side of it.

Rather then going on a diet ( can't let go fo my pasta and vino ), I just went to a local shop, and had him put in denser foam.

It did not cost squat, and is still a firm seat ( friend has that truck now, at 8 + years old ).

Just a thought rather then getting the same stock foam, have a local guy sculpt the new foam out of a denser foam.

Good luck, let us know what you do ( I still cannot let go of my pasta and vino, so I am sure I'll be doing this again )

Yeah, I'd do exactly what Scully mentioned. It seems silly to pay high dollar for a Ford Part when a upholstry shop can probably pull this off on a 'same day turnaround' for little of nothing. Foam is cheap. The labor charge shouldn't be too much.

Ask around your area and find a good auto uphostry shop, I think you'll save a wad of $ and have a higher quality foam under your cheeks...

G'luck.

Thanks for the replies and advice, guess I should have waited to order the cushion. It'll be here on wednesday from ford. I'm guessing that I'll probably have to remove my seat in order to remove the seat springs. This should prove to be a fun learning experience.
Thanks again for the advice.

Bulldog,

Taking the seat out is the easiest way to do it. When I had my seat done, I took it out and dropped it off at the place ( 1 day turn around ).

Take a look for a set of hog ring pliars, you might need these to get the hog rings off of the seat frame and cover. you could try it with regualr pliars, but it will be a b!tch to do.

Good Luck with it.

Steve
