There's nothing special about airplane lights, they are standard 55W halogens just like cars. ~1200lm

Hmm the way the guy I used to work with talked about them, they would use them in their high beams, but could only use them in short burst or else it would drain the battery...this was back in the 60s and 70s when he did this.

He's still working on them. Claims to have a more defined cutoff line than any other LED he's worked with. Not sure what that means.
