It's part of a 116 page retrofit thread, but here ya go. He's only posted in the last 10 pages or so:

The plot thickens:

My reasons for this are to keep people from stealing my rigid lights by installing them in the headlights
Bwahahaha.

The way I recall it was they were at least 100W but had very short bulb life, like minutes not hours and guys used them just to blind flash. Stupidity at its worst. The battery drain may be something too, they were a higher draw.

And apparently they are still doing it. I had to google to see if they were but found a few forums with people still recommending and doing airplane landing lights in round high-beam 4 light setups.

I can forgive most of these morons, because come on we all did stupid stuff when we were young. Maybe some of us even did the crap light conversions (not me, honest, I had other stupidity to pursue ) Most of us outgrow our stupidity through luck or good guidance.

The disturbing thing I found on my quick revisit of the airplane conversion threads was that some of the posters were commenting that they were doing it because their aging eyes just couldn't see well at night with the standard high-beams. That is scary on a few levels.

Wow . . . I've seen these before, but only in the Super Duty's on the top part, not the actual headlight. I thought that was somewhat cool, cause its not retardation, but this . . .

The guy claiming he's got a "cutoff" is crazy. Those also don't look good. "Cool" to an extent, but they look like nasty eBay specials when they're on.
