Brighter Fogs

Hey guys, still pretty new to this site but wanted to say thank you to all you lighting gurus out there, you guys have helped me do my own retrofit projectors in my headlights!!

Here's my questions, I would like to put some bright amber color lights in my fogs but definietly dont want to put HID's in there because of blinding issues and overall respect for oncoming vehicles. i know i can retrofit those but i was curious if they have aftermarket LED bulbs i can put in place of the stock 9140's

I've seen some forum memebers place the Rigid Duallys in the fog location but didnt know if those were alright in the area of glare and safety for on road situations.

Sorry in advance for the wordy questions!

Denton

The led fogs will be more for looks. They don't put out enough lumens to be useful and they also don't have the same focal point as your halogens so it won't hit the reflector bowl of the fogs right.
If you don't wanna retro you could always pop of your lens and add an amber led ring.

See I only like to put things on my truck that are practical and functional. If I did go the Rigid Industries route, would I be able to use those on interstates/highways or is that something that would need to be strickly back roads as well as off road?

Same here!
I never used one of those before but i would guess it would be back roads/or with high beams only

I agree!
I did see someone with LED's in the fogs on a 06-08 F150 (round fogs). They had a lot of glare, not bad from far but as i got closer I was hit with massive glare. From personal experience I would say it's the same as P&P HID bulbs in the fogs.

dfergus, Congulations on your retrofit. Now just retrofit your fogs!

Cool

I went with the PIAA Hb plasma ion bulbs (#13506). They are 90-100.00 bucks a set. Sometimes you can get them for less. They project an amber hue and do project further than the stock bulbs. I've used PIAA products for many years, but this was the first time I used these bulbs. Been happy so far. I didn't want to go thru the hassle of any conversions because of back issues. About the Rigid's, Last September I put a set of the Rigid Dually D2 driving lights in amber on the brushguard of my Polaris Ranger, and a set of the Dually spot lights on top of the cab. The amber are OK for short distances. They are brighter and project farther, and to the side, better than the stock halogens on the Ranger, which are frankly, pathetic. But I was unimpressed with the illumination of D2's in amber. The Dually spot lights on the other hand are fantastic.

I've seen Rigids on the interstate. 10,000+ lumens is not what you want going down the road. Off road is fine, but not the interstate.

Vision X has a few different beam patterns to choose from.

I have a euro beam pattern for a DRL on my 2006.

They have the narrow, Euro and wide ( not a flood ) in the different lines.
- There are some flood, watch out, these are work area lamps like on the back of a truck, not forward facing lamps.

Just a thought to get a real road lamp, not a work area flood lamp.
