Mounting lights

So I have a friend who has an extra set of new Light Force 210 Genesis HIDs that's he's willing to let go for considerably less than the sticker price. Problem is where am I going to mount them? I don't want to drill into my bumper and they are to large for behind the grill. I've seen some trucks with lights mounted on the plastic between the windshield and hood, would that be possible in this case or should I try another avenue of mounting them. I'm not looking to purchase a brush guard or anything along those lines, just get these sweet lights posted up on my truck.

I think it'd be illegal to have them on the wiper cowl because it could potentially block a lot of your view.

Without wanting to get a brush bar or a light bar, being too big to go behind the grill, and not wanting to drill into the bumper I think you may be outta options.

I'm not gonna put then right in front of my view, on the left and right sides of the wiper cowl. I'll look into local laws but it doesn't matter because I'm an out of state resident and I will pull the 'It's not illegal in my state' routine if I get pulled over... Maybe some type of behind the grill mod? I'm more concerned with then blocking the radiator air flow because they are so large... If worse comes to worse I'll drill into my bumper and take out my behind the grill lights. What does one of those light bars for the roof cost? I was trying to search but wasn't coming up with anything but the in the bed options.

They don't make anything specifically for the roofs of the 97-03s unfortunately. But you could buy one and redo mounting brackets but it would have to be drilled into your roof, or have one custom made but again you'd have to drill it in.

http://www.outlawraptor.com/orp-hood-light-mount-outlaw-raptor-hood-light-mount-bolt-on.html#!popUp[products]/0/

I'm sure I'm not the first person to discover this. I called the company and they fit F-150s... YYYEEEAAAHHHH...

90$ though... Just looking at them I think I can make something quite similar myself

As someone who works with LEO on a daily basis, I highly suggest you do not do that unless you have someone filming it so we can see it on the 6'oclock news.

Also, did you specify your MY truck when you called them? Those lights look like they will only fit 2009+ models

And it'll get you a ticket anyways, especially if you turn them on in a state they're illegal in, or if they're too big and obstructing view, or even if they don't have covers on them. Iirc here in VA it's illegal to have lights bigger than 6" without covers while driving and covers have to be on lights above the headlights or you have to be able to prove they aren't hooked up. It's just like having lights under a car, it's legal in some states but once you cross the state line into a state they aren't, you run the risk of a ticket. Whether you get one or not is up to the officer's discretion, but the risk is still there.

I knew I'd catch some heat if I said that...

I've actually been pulled over (3 times) in my wife's civic, who's tint is 2%, and they let me go with a warning because my vehicle is registered out of state and they can't enforce my state's laws.

I doubt I'll get pulled over for it, what about all those Subarus and other AWD cars with those ridiculous 10" on the front of their hoods haha. I think I'll be fine. I don't plan on having them on all the time.

Raptor, they said you just have to make a modification under the hood but it's the same concept... I plan on making something myself this weekend. I'll post pictures and what needed to be done.

Ok ok maybe not 10" lights but they're there. Anyhoo I got the lights today and noticed through the instructions it wants me to hook up to the high beam wire with a Tee Tap. Where would be the best location to do this?

Whatever side your mounting the relay on, go to the closest headlight you'll see three wires running into the harness, one of those is the high beam. Can't remember which one it is though but I wanna say the one in the middle. Raptor would know for sure, or if you have a Haynes manual you can check in that.

OK, after some looking around and checking options out, I've decided to build a roof rack. I just don't know where I can drill into the roof for the base... I'm going to do something similar to the link below and I've added a picture for reference of my roof... where can I drill into? Is there a roof frame I can screw into so I don't have to use nuts under the roof on the interior? The parts labeled 'cross bars...' is how I'd like to do the base.
