2004 Retrofit
2004 Retrofit
Hi
I am getting ready to do my retrofit, Im just waiting for my Harley style headlights to come in mail.
So far I have:
-3" FXR Stage III Projectors
-55W Morimoto Ballasts
-Apollo Shrouds
-TRS wiring harness
-6000k HID Bulbs
-Resealing Glue
My Headlights are apparently in CA still so I guess I wont have until hopefully Wed.
I spent $345 on HID's & $80 on Harley Style Headlights (not OEM).

Yes, I have the Five5 bulbs. I called up TRS when I ordered and spoke with Matt, who helped guide me. Thanks. Hopefully this weekend will be ready. Currently changing my subwoofer because the original burnt out.
Chris I feel your pain. How do you like the 4300's? and Alex your Sig picture looks awesome! I hope I didn't make a mistake with the 6000's. (being too blue that is)

Ehh....I got the 4300Ks at first and they were REALLY yellow. After a year I called up TRS and they did an even trade for 0-hour 5000K bulbs for just shipping costs. The 5000K were PERFECTLY white and even though testing shows a luminosity drop of about 300lm, I can't tell too much. I don't know of anyone running 6000K Moris, so I'm not sure how they will look. If you have a D-SLR or any sort of advanced camera to where you can manually change the white balance, zero that out on your camera and post some shots, I'm curious of how blue they are.

Well had a set back today.
I started on the project following the TRS guidelines, and these cheap non-factory headlights melted on me. So now I got a set to practice on.
Looks like I will be using the factory headlights now, and paint them black like TG150.
My factory lights have a small amount of condensation inside, but I don't think it should be a problem, especially with the resealing glue I have.
Im thinking of sending the lights to my local body shop to be painted.
tg150 looks great, you inspired me to do the halogen reflector black too.
Alex hopefully by Monday you will know one person running the 6000k's, and I have a pretty decent camera, so I should be able to zero out the white balance once complete.
Thanks,
-Garrett

While I can't compare to the 5k I had 6k heads and 8k fogs in my Harley.. Maybe this will help give you an idea
I did not retrofit them obviously but they were awesome and I never got flashed after reaiming.

After about a year the fogs looked to have dimmed to more of a 6k to the point you couldn't tell a difference between them and the heads. They were just a cheap $50 set compared to the $250 set I had in the heads.

I had set oven to 250 d because it was a manual **** not a digital screen, and kept in for exactly 7 minutes. When I grabbed the headlight out of the oven, it was really soft, barely any effort to pry it apart. Also melted plastic got on my gloves and my hands were hot through the gloves.
Thanks MRLSU2U for the input. I didnt realize you could reaim the Hid so nicely. The 6000k looks good to me, but I know the projector can effect the output. I may do my fogs without the projectors since I wont be using that often. I was thinking of doing 3000k but not a definate yet.

This is one of the reasons I'd like to become a cop. I'd shove a ticket up people's butts so hard, they wouldn't need another prostate exam for 10 years
Just because you don't get flashed doesn't mean anything. My sister drove my truck over 180 miles at night with my 50W bi-xenon projectors in "high beam" and she only got flashed once. I can guarantee you mine are more glarey than that when my highs are on.
OP, color temps vary by manufacturer. Unless they came from the same manufacturer, one persons 6000K could be bluer than another persons 12000K. Its called quality control, and the $30 kits on eBay everyone is buying, lack it.
