Fog Lights

I drive a 2003 f150. Just started a new job and driving a lot at night down lonely back roads with a lot of deer. Is there a direct replacement for my fog lights that will be a lot brighter. Or any aftermarket fog lights i can mount on my car that you would recommend. Just something i don't use all the time just when i need it. Thanks for any input is greatly appreciated.

Fog lights should be the last of your concern if you are driving down long, dark stretches of road and you're looking for deer.

How old are your headlight bulbs? If you want to spend some money, some LED Light Bars would be an excellent choice. But a retrofit would be cheaper and the best thing for you:

My head light bulbs are only a couple months old they are Silverstar ZXE. I looked into these see what yalls thoughts are and if anyone has this. They are replacement of the entire fog light unit.

Those are for aesthetics only. They have crap output versus stock. But like I said, having light that close in front of you is not going to help you. In fact, it will hurt you if you are trying to look for deer.

Went to a off road shop today shopping around. He suggested HID lighting for my fog lights installed for $200. Is that a decent price or what. The problem im worried about Texas passed a new law that HID lighting if it isn't stock is illegal. So he said its better as fog lights than headlights so i don't use them all the time while driving just as needed.

Thats not just Texas- its the whole United States. But it constitutes only for OEM headlight systems. IE don't put HID bulbs in your headlights or foglights. But You can get as many off-road HID lights as you want and stick them on bull bars, pre-runner bars, etc- but don't run them with traffic and you'll be fine

I searched the threads and couldn't find an answer on wiring your fogs to stay on with your high beams. Is it difficult to do?

The real question is- why would you want to do it? If you think you are helping your visibility, you're not. You're actually hurting it

Been a long time since I had my 2003 but if I remember correctly, I ran 9005 halogen bulbs in the fogs with no problems at all. The 9005's were like night and day compared to the stockers but I could not run them when oncoming traffic was present. They did a really good job lighting up the sides of dark deer infested roads. I also modded the headlight switch so I could run the fogs along with the highbeams and installed a set of Hella 550 driving lights behind the grill.

Google Sylvania Xenarcs. They are 100% 50 state legal. They are not longer made but pop up on eBay every once in a while. They aren't cheap but are great, but as I was said you could so a projector hid retro for about the same price as the Xenarcs.

Xenarcs are old school D1Rs. A new projector system will yield more light for less money
