HID trouble shoot : Fogs on=Lights off

Just put in a set of DDM HID lights I picked up from one of the guys here on the forum. I bought both the headlights and the fogs. Problem Im having is when I turn the fogs on, my headlights turn off.

The foglight kit has not been installed yet...

Any ideas what could be causing this ??

Did you accidendently reverse the connections on the hi/lo plug ins?

Check your grounds and other connections

Would I need the bambi mod even if im not running the Hi Beams because of the HID's ?? I thought the bambi mod was only to run the fogs along with the Hi beams ?

I dont think it would let me plug it in, but I'll double check right now.. Seems to be grounded fine cause the lights turn on.. Would they still work with a bad ground ??

When I did a search for your issue there were other forums that had members inadvertently reverse the pug ins on their ddm kits.....if your plug ins are keyed(not reversible) then scratch that idea.....

Grounding was another issued that popped up in the search that caused funky issues.....

Just throwing ideas out there....good luck

Thanks brotha.. I appreciate your help.. I just double checked the hi/lo connections and they were keyed. I unplugged them and put them back in. still no luck. I have to get the ground checked.

While doing the install. I noticed the plug that goes into the OE right side headlight harness from the ballast does not plug in all the way. I had to use electrical tape to keep them together. I'm wondering if this connection is not solid. Causing the hi beams to not work.

I'm sorry, I just wouldn't trust a cheap kit that holds over 20,000 volts held together by tape on my vehicle.

Check PMs, I'm sure we can find a more permanent (and safer) route for you.

my ddm kit did kind of the same thing except when i turned my fog lights on, the high beams would turn on because i have the dual beam kit, bambi mod fixed it. it has to do with the circuit between the high beams and fog lights, something about lack of ohmic resistance in hid bulbs.

OK guys, just finished doing the bambi mod. Now Im able to have my fogs on and and my regular headlights but Once I flash or turn my high beams, All the lights shut off. (I have to turn the lights completely off and turn back on to reset)
This only happens if I have the fogs on. If I only have the regular headlights on and flash the high beams they will shut off but will come back on as if I didnt have a HI/LO kit.

This is the plug that I think is causing my problem.. Its the green plug that goes from the oe harness to the oe bulb.. but once you install the HID kit. There is a plug that comes from the HID ballast harness that plugs into the green OE harness on the Right Headlight ONLY. The one one the Left headlight is not used and just taped off. Mine for whatever reason is not plugging in correctly. (its not snapping together) I had to tape the two ends together to keep them frm coming apart. Could this be the reason my High beams are acting up ??

Why not cut the plug off and manually splice it together thus insuring good connection?
