I just finished putting HID conversion kits in my projector lights that I have had since 2005 and they look great. I had to trim a little bit of the fiberglass behind the light housing because the HID H3 bulbs are way longer than the regular H3 bulb the projector assembly uses. I have to take the assembly back out to tie the ballasts down. I have 12000K and the light that is produced is just as good as the stock halogens.

Actually its not.

The 55W H13 produces about 1200lm on low beam, a 35W HID capsule @ 12,000K only puts out about 780lm

I have some projectors I bought from a vendor on ebay. I would not recommend them. During severe off roading trips mud gets inside the lights.

Not sure if mine are 35W or 55W, but my H3 12000K bulbs do produce good light. I didn't say better than the halogen, but just as good. I know the brightest HIDs are around 5000K and 6000K. I'm not an expert on this, but maybe the magnification of my projectors make mine a little brighter.

hey guys. sorry this is the first time ive seen this thread. anyways here are some pics. and the light output is about the same from what i remember. just throw in some silverstars like i did and its fine. the ONLY problems with these is 1-the clear coating came off after 2.5 years...it is off completely now but they look fine without the clear on it. but while its coming off they look crappy. mine happened during the winter so i thought it was salt buildup honestly..and 2 they have to be aligned farther down to avoid blinding people. they spread the light more so you can still see as far but way out is a little dimmer than stock since the stock beams are a little more concentrated. close light output is awesome...also lighting on the sides is awesome. and they still shine out far enough for what you need. i dont have my stock lenses anymore, they are at my parents house so i cant do a comparison but ill try to do an output pic or 2 before work and post them tomorrow. anyways here is the lights.

these are halos only

those halo pics were to try to show the projector part of it. the lights do still have the reflector like the stock lenses so thats why the light output up close is still the same. here is a pic of the lights...low beams while truck is not running. i took this awhile back.

i will try doing one against the garage door before i go to work and post tomorrow

They're going to be 35W as 55W on such a small base can be dangerous. Brightest HIDs are 4300K at around 3200 lumens (see siggy). The projector is the highest-efficiency optical out there today, but yours aren't really up to par. The candela (cD) is a measure of light intensity, which may be higher than a halogen, but is also more spread out. Lighting wise, that halogen puts out about double what you have now.

LOL you're getting all scientific on me! I can't debate with you because you know more about it than I do.

I have to adjust my lenses because they a shining to far down. I couldn't tell that when the halogen H3's were in. I also have ordered new LED's to go at the bottom of the assembly also. The old ones went out not too long after I got the projectors. Anyway, the next ones will be of better quality.

Not really trying to debate, just like to inform the misinformed Sadly the LEDs are of poor quality. Once you get some good ones wired in, they do have some good DRL lighting effect!

ok have some pics...all pics are with silverstar bulbs...and i dont have fogs/driving lights. these are headlights only. also my camera did dim while i took the pics but these look kinda close to what they were actually like except the sides are brighter than the pics show. these are low beams...

these are lows then highs at about 40ft i would guess.

then lows and then highs from the end of the driveway...by the way the driveway does have a slight incline...

then lows and then highs on the road while stopped.

Lol i've had that grill for several years now. It was given to me. All of the screw fasteners fell out except for two. When I get grown, I'm gonna get a new one.
