Compressor gone bad?

Well I've had efans in for about 5 months now and recently I noticed in Tallahassee traffic my A/C isnt blowing very cold. Tonight I start the truck up and put on MAX and check the R-134a and its in the green. Staring at my compressor its making noises and sometimes I'll grab, then shutoff for a split second and grab again. When is slips it makes a chattering noise and a tint bit of smoke comes out. What is this? Bad bearings?

Worn out clutch plate, at a minimum.

Whew! Okay, how to fix it? Is it cheap?

And what should the resistance be on those when their not engaged? Like with the truck off it requires a bit of push to get it to turn

Did you put any freon in?? Too much will cause it to lock.

Well I added a few oz. a few months ago. Brought it from the lower green to the upper green. My air was still a tad warm, so that didn't do much.
