A/C makes my truck run really bad
A/C makes my truck run really bad
My A/C stoped working a wile back after i hit a hole in the street,So i thot it was somethiing with the fan or connections. But i could not find anything wrong. So every once in a wile i try turning it on to see if it will majically jut stat working. But now when i turn it on my trucks RPM's go down and acts like it wants to die, and it sounds like a belt is sliping under the hood. I looked but i did not see anything. And it blew a little air one day but it just does not sound right and wont work.....
anything helps... these days are just geting hotter and it would be nice to have an a/c on these 100*+ weather......thanks..

Check refrigerant level.
Check compressor shaft for excessive load. The compressor may be in the process of seizing.
Check the compressor pulley and clutch.

Ok well how would i go about doing that? So it cold sezie up just from hiting a hole in he street?
Buy a belt for that veh but specify you want one for it with out ac. If that is a problem you will have to try some shorter belts till you find one that fits. I cant tell you why hitting a hole in the road would make that happen accept maybe it was ready to go and jarring it made it self destruct. replace the dilithium crystals and go to warp speed!

The point is to either replace the compressor before the clutch locks completely up and throws the belt or bypass the compressor to avoid the inevitable self destruct of your ac compressor therefor stranding you in no mans land just when your about to score. Get it!
Got to go help someone move with the white trash I will check back later.

OK 200 to 250 at auto zone. 50 to 75 an a salvage yard. Add about 20 to 30 for Freon, new o rings and a charge kit with a gage and your just about set./ Remove the old compressor Reverse the procedure and install it and recharge with r134a oil first then a can of r134a straight. Then set back and enjoy a cold one in your new air.
