Thinking about a Pioneer AVH-P2400BT
Thinking about a Pioneer AVH-P2400BT
Anyone have one installed in their truck? Looking for some personal reviews / pics, or whatever info you can give. Even other head unit suggestions.

Have had one for a few weeks. It pretty much has almost everything I could reasonably expect at this price-point and then some, which is typical of Pioneer. 8 band EQ, high/low pass filters, sub controls, built in bluetooth, IPOD control with optional cable, and expandability to NAV. 3 sets of 2 v preouts and expandability for satellite and a backup cam too. The bluetooth is a Parrot based system. It worked flawlessly with my Droid X 2. I simply paired from the head unit, then accepted the pairing request on the phone, and that was it. No pin number needed to be entered. The two units connected then the head unit sent another request to the phone to transfer the contact list without me doing anything. I clicked accept and next thing I know my whole contact list popped up in the head unit. It took all of 30 seconds and was by far the easiest, most pain-free time I have ever had setting up an aftermarket bluetooth head unit. Every other time I have had to do it it has been a pain in my butt, SOMETHING would never work right on the first attempt.
The only thing that COULD be an issue for alot of people is there is no rear USB. The IPOD cable goes to a USB/AV port in the front of the unit. It is a rather cumbersome cable to have hanging off your dash. Pioneer does so well in generally adding great value for the money but the only exception is you have to be thinking 500 and up with the 4000 series units to get a rear mounted IPOD cable so you can hide the IPOD more easily. THERE IS a way you can connect your IPOD to the rear on this unit and completely hide the cable. It would be with a Pioneer IPOD adaptor add-on module, model CD-IB100II. This is actually not one of their units that is allowed to give you full display and full control through the head unit using that particular adaptor. It is designed to function properly with one of the front-mounted cables. However, I had the adaptor on my old head unit, which was designed to work with it. When they swapped out my old Pioneer HU the IPOD module was still mounted behind the dash so they just connected it to the 2400BT while they were plugging everything else back in. On my 980BT this module gave me full IPOD control through the head unit with all available functions. On the 2400BT, which is not classified as an 'IPOD ADAPTOR READY' head unit, the only thing it does is lets me play the IPOD song list continuously through the head unit. It doesn't display most of the artist, song, or album information and I have barely any control over it through the head unit. And I cannot control anything through the IPOD itself either. It shows up in the menu under the 'External Unit' label. Apparently Pioneer leaves a couple open ports on the back of the head unit where you can connect certain accessories that do not already have a dedicated connection allocated to them. Functionality is hit or miss when you use this option. In this case it is a way to let me hook the IPOD to the back, but the system is not actually recognizing it as an IPOD so you don't get full access to all the features.
This is an OK option for long road trips where you are happy to leave a play list on and just let it go. However, that is not a situation where you're likely to be worried about keeping your IPOD hidden and this trick won't work out well at all in daily driving where you stop and park frequently.
I kind of miss the capability I had with my old unit to shut the IPOD in my glovebox and forget about it. But there's otherwise so much that's good about the unit that I will deal with it. I would love to have had my cake and eaten it too but didn't want to pay 150 bucks extra for the one feature and there were really no other head units in this one's price range that offer the same for the money.

Me too!!!
I am having mine installed this very minute along with infiniti speakers to replace the factory ones. I cant wait to get it all setup! I also have the Razor MAXX and I am hoping the bluetooth pairing is equally as easy.
Installed and AWESOME :)
Just picked up the truck. I made my Razor Maxx discoverable and paired to the unit in less than 20 seconds! The audio quality is infinitely better than the initial blue tooth units I reviewed a few years ago. i took my first call within minutes of getting in the truck and the caller had no problem hearing me. I have a 42 mile commute home and being Friday afternoon I am sure I will have plenty of time to tweak it. Ill post after the weekend with a better review.

I am pleased to report that the 2400BT unit is a fantastic buy. The 2400 does not come with HD FYI but this was not a requirement of mine. I prefer to stream music vs. the local channels. I use an Android phone and it paired with the head unit in less than 10 seconds. Likewise the phone contact synch and "favorites" for contacts is a big plus too. I have had multiple calls and recipients state they can hear me fine. The unit in conjunction with the infiniti speakers is fantastic. Pioneer really nailed this one right out of the gate and for the price it can't be beat.
