Another Kill!!!!

Driving home from a ballgame in Charlotte, NC when a new Z-28 goes by me @25 mph while I'm sitting still. I catch up to him, see him with his chick (my wife was with me) and hear him gun his engine. I slammed the pedal down and before I know it we are four car lengths ahead of the Z and approaching 100 mph. then i had to pull into my apartment complex and avoid another ticket. Anyhow, I love my truck even though its not modded out (yet!). But so far its 2-0!!

This is my first post on this forum, I registered to get some info. on the Super Crews and read your post. I'm sorry, I'm having a hard time believing that a stock HD truck beat a new Z28. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the new HD's, I want one but in California the dealers are asking a RAPING price for one, 10K over the MRSP price of 38K. I read the new HD's run 0-60 in 6.2 and the 1/4 in 14.6 in Truck Trend. A new Z28 can flirt with the high 12's low 13's dead stock and you're saying you beat one. I was at Sacramento Raceway and saw a new stock HD truck run a best of 15.45 on a hot (97*) and crappy drag racing day while a new Z28 clicked off a 13.4, also stock. My 00 ext cab Silverado with a 5.3L and 3.73's has run a best of 14.92 with only exhaust, ECM and intake for upgrades. On the same hot and crappy day, my best was a 15.33, better than the HD truck. I'm not bashing your truck, I want one! I may have to settle on the standard Super Crew because of the price though. I'm just having a hard time with this post.

He's not stock, he has a few good mods already on the HD.

i was gonna write more, but decided to just let someone else start it. LoL

I'm not bashing his truck, period. But a chip and filter isn't going to let him pull four truck lengths on a low 13 second car. If I get flamed, so be it. I did post this to get flamed, I didn't bash him. I guess I'll find out first hand how friendly Ford owners are.

LOCOSVT, I did see his sig and wish I could have an SS and an S/C HD truck. His SS runs 12.9's, does he think his HD truck can pull four lengths on it in the exact same situation he posted about? I would like his response.

No to bash you, but do you know the 02 HD have the 340hp supercharged Lightning motor in them? They're exactly like the "L" motor but with a smaller pulley and something else I can't remember.

First off, most stock z-28s run a 13.7-14.2 bone stock and there are a few guys around the site that have ran 14.1s in their stock 02 HDs. also there is a chance that the driver of the Z could have missed a shift or he was just chicken**it. Either way I embarrassed him and ran away with another victory.

Oh and by the way - do you even know what you're talking about y2K silverado? Since when is a 15.3 better than a 14.6 1/4 mile? I'd love to see that!

YES, I do know what I'm talking about, Mustangs GT runs 14.2 in the 1/4 not Z28's. A stock Z28 will run mid to low 13's, MM & FF magazine (a Ford magazine) ran a new Z28 and were shocked that it made one pass in the high 12's and most in the very low 13's. The mag was testing the a new GT and had a side bar article on the competition, namely, the Z28.
My 15.33 was better than the 15.45 the HD truck ran that day. I didn't say I could beat one in ideal conditions, maybe he was a crappy driver I don't know, but he did run a 15.45. I also know they do have a de-tuned Lightning engine making 340 hp and 425 tq, have 3.73 gears and weigh roughly the same as my ext cab Silverado. My truck's 5.3L has 285 hp and 325 tq stock and also has 3.73's. All I've done is put a Magnaflow exhaust, a Hypertech tuner and have a home made ram-air intake using a paper Purolator filter. It's pretty sad if a Super Charged truck making more hp and definitly more torque than my truck is and can't match it's time. You want to bash me go ahead, you drew first blood. That funny feeling in your A$$ is a corn cob, pull it out!

I think you need to re-read his post. What he said was-
a new stock HD truck run a best of 15.45 on a hot (97*) and crappy drag racing day while a new Z28 clicked off a 13.4, also stock. So a 15.33 beats a 15.45 where I come from. I'm not trying to get in the middle, just clarify what he said. You did make it sound as if an HD could take a Z-28 in a fair fight, and we all know that ain't so...

y2K - how many noremal everyday drivers can go to the track and roll off those times that mag drivers get PAID to do - on paper the times for all the cars youve mentioned are usually a few ticks behind what you or i or anyone for that matter could do. plus the biggest thing that f*cks up a race is driver error - but if you think your silverado is so bada$$ then bring on down to charlotte and ill be more than glad to give the corn cob a good twist down your sh*t talkin throat
