On the tonneau issue, I've heard the same thing as Tampa-Harley; December, Leer, no charge. It's a drag waiting so long, but we hope the cover will be as distinctive as the truck. It just wouldn't look as good with an aftermarket, I don't think.
Be happy you're getting a jacket of any type; us Canucks didn't get the same deal.
Hurry up December!

Hi Brenda

You shouldn't have to do anything. You just got your truck so you should be receiving all the info soon as to the tonneau issue. So far we know the cover will be produced aftermarket by Leer sometime starting I believe around December and continuing into next year. All trucks produced will get one now free of charge. Its just a matter of when. Suprisingly enough we end up knowing more than the dealer does (atleast thats the case with mine) from mailings, the internet, and this message board which has been a great help to myself and others here. If you have questions this is the place to do it. Welcome aboard!!

Message to Tampa-Harley (or anyone else with Ford's letter re tonneau):
I'd really appreciate getting a copy of that letter fax'd my way (705-721-1380), or sent w/email note to: frederick.barfoot@sympatico.ca
It seems Canadians aren't inline for the Leer tonneau, and I just want info that's in YOUR letter because Ford never mailed anything to us (except the standard post-purchase survey)
Thanks in advance!
Regards....................Fred

Got some new info on the Tonneau from Ford at the dealer I work for. Harley F-150 owners should be getting another letter with a reminder to attach to dash reminding of the Tonneau cover. Ford says it will remind owner not to purchase a aftermarket Tonneau Cover. Ford says letter should be mailed in October sometime. There was other info on dealer letter but I left it at work. Matter of fact it was a e-mail to dealer if I remember corrctly.

Hey Gang

I got the notice from my dealer also (thru my wife)Tampa-Harley. About the size of an index card.It states that the tonneau cover has been ordered and will be installed at no charge by my dealer. Also as you said it has the bold "DO NOT purchase an alternate tonneau cover in the interim". The next letter I believe is supposed to arrive no later that the week of 0ct2.

Like Frederick would appreciate you US guys keeping us in Canada informed on the tonneau cover issue since I don't want to purchase if Ford is providing these. Tonneau was not listed on my window sticker so don't know at this point where we stand up here on the issue. Appreciate it. ck

The email is a little old (9/14) but it states "Harley-Davidson F-150"
goes on to say; "Ford will offer a no-charge tonneau cover to owners of the 2000 Harley-Davidson F-150. Detailed instructions on how to order the tonneau will be sent to all Ford dealers and all 2000 Harley-David F-150 owners by early October. Please inform all sales consultants and new 2000 Harley-Davidson F-150 owners of this impending offer and advise owners NOT to purchase an aftermarket tonneau until they have received ordering information from Ford Motor Company. As an additional reminder, all dealers have been sent stickers to affix in a non-obtrusive but visible area of the interior of 2000 Harley-Davidson F-150s reminding owners not to purchase an aftermarket tonneau. These stickers should begin arriving in dealerships this week."
I have looked around my dealership and have not found them!
did get A very nice key chain and plate from Ford with vehicle number on it. it was cool.
I will pass on any more info as I get it.
Jeff

Post

Last night as I was driving home I passed a Ford dealership in Richmond Hill (Just north of Toronto, Ontario Canada) and I noticed that they had a HD F150 in the Showroom. I bought mine a 3 weeks ago in Sudbury, Ontario (4 hour drive north of Toronto) so I was curious what the sticker price was on this one compared to mine. As the dealership was closed when I went by last night, I returned their today. As soon as I drove up to the side of the showroom I noticed that their HD F150 had the hard Tonneau cover on it, like it was supposed to originally. It looked really good with it on. So I asked on of the sales guys about it, telling him that I just bought one, and mine did not come with it. He told me that when they first got the truck in, the cover was not part of it. The cover showed up a week later with a note to add it as an option to the truck for $1300 CDN. The sales guy had never heard that the truck was supposed to come with the cover originally. I think I will email the dealer I bought mine at, to see if they could find any info on this issue here in Canada. The cover makes the truck look even hotter, but the price is a little steep.

BTW

The sticker price on this truck was about a $1000 CDN lower then mine, but it did not have the sliding rear window or the 6 CD changer that I got.
