Hey Huey

I know you guys in Canada are in a different situation then we are here in the USA as far as getting info on the Tonneau cover but haven't heard if you have been getting the other info. My wife works for a Ford dealer and managed to get me a brochure on Harley accessories available thru the dealership. Some aren't available yet. The soft tonneau isn't one of those tho. They have one with the logo on it. Her cost is around $200 I believe for it (I'll double check it for ya). Check it out with your dealer and see if the know anything about the brochure.
There is no number to call so I assume this is only available thru the dealerships.

thanx for the reply.
been checking the dealer. nothing yet. was trying to solve this here because of getting rid of the leer cap but guess i'll do it in florida. trailering the bike anyway and probably easier getting the lift in florida. getting info around here is like pulling hens teeth. went to the chat room last night but couldn't find anyone. if you get more info i'll watch for it here. scuse the one finger typing. i'm still trying to figure out how to work this computer.

thanx again huey

Hey huey

I went to Northtown Ford in Toronto to inquire about a soft cover with the Harley logo and got a price of $500 CDN. Only problem was that the parts guy could not tell me how long it would take to get in, since there was no inventory showing. I then asked for a price without the logo and was told it was $560 CDN and in stock. A little pricy. Yesterday I priced out an Exact cover for around $400 + taxes installed at Van & Truck World. What to do ???

Hey Huey,
did you get the other HD F150 from Thor?
I got their first-ship late June and have been trying to get the tonneau solved since!

and to mschon:
Was the hard cover you saw at Northtown the authentic one seen at the shows (you know, with the lowered edge perimeter)???
Thanks..............Fred

thors and me is a sore subject. you got the truck that i bought in august 99. they gave mine away after the deal was made cuz they got more $ from you. definitely NOT your problem but a good 25 year relationship is over. i purchased my hdf150 from cruickshank in toronto, then returned my lincoln to thors and got a chrysler 300m from orillia dodge [nice car]. last i heard thors second truck was still there. hope kris thor eats it but that won't happen with this model. anyway life goes on , i love my hd150 and cruickshanks have been great.

Frederick

The HD-F150 I saw wiht the hard cover was at City Ford in Richmond Hill. I have only seen the authentic cover in pictures on the internet, which is hard to see, so I can only say that it looks like the authentic one.

huey,
I'm sorry about the truck I got being originally yours. I had placed a deposit Sept/99, and heard nothing until May. Maybe I paid too much, but figured there was no room since it was LE. I did however get the rebate for the missing tonneau; little consolation what with all the print I read here about the US buyers and the forthcoming free cover.
Thanks for writing, and see you later.

Huey: keep us Canuks posted on what you end up getting while in Fla and how it fits. I'm prepared to cross the border and buy if Ford Canada keeps stumbling on this issue. ck

general info

my leer cap is now gone. corner was twisted . dealer says its # 10 defective flat cap for him. cruickshank ford in toronto say that a vinyl hd150 tonneau cover is arriving soon. think thats what i'm doing cuz it gives the box more flexibility. finally got hold of a set of wheel locks too. i'll be back on when i get set up in florida.

Hey huey

What kind of price did the dealer give you on the soft HD Tonneau. Last week I purchased a Extang Soft Tonneau Cover at Van & Truck World for $400 CDN incl tax. It looks really good and so far is keeping the bed dry. I emailed the dealer I purchased the truck from regarding the Tonneau issue and basically got told that the deal does not apply in Canada. I actually like the idea of a soft cover better because it's easy to get out of the way to haul something.

Question

Tried to get Ford to reimburse me for my A.R.E. lid instead of WAITING until mid winter for the "FREE" one. Not enough people have written them with that problem so they said basically too bad. I encourage you to call and then write Ford about your dissatisfaction about the tonneau cover issue.

For those who need the number and address: 1-800-392-3673

Ford Motor Company
Customer Relations Center
16800 Executive Plaza Drive
P.O. Box 6248
Dearborn, MI 48126

The 800 people are in Toronto. They told me to write a letter to Detroit – I did that and waited over 2 weeks for a response - when I called about not getting any follow-up they said you sent that to headquarters, we can make a note on your file – our system doesn’t tie into theirs – you may want to send them another letter. I did, by register mail, which got a response within 6 days! – but as stated above, not enough people have registered complaints.

I hope some, or all, of you would call and write. All I wanted was for them to reimburse me the amount it was going to cost them for the “FREE” one. I really don’t need two lids for one truck! –

About having your Harley truck sold out from under you for more $$$$ that happened to me by my local dealer Marshall Ford West – they sold it to the Harley Dealer down the street after 5˝ months being on order. – Mine came from Joe Cotton Ford in Chicago and was dropped shipped 2 days! Some dealers have it and some don’t!

Hey all

Just a brief note. My wife's dealership got the oreder form today for my cover. According to her all covers are on a first come first serve basis. The sooner you order the sooner you get it. They are supposed to start in January and run thru June. Leer is going to send an installer to the dealer ship to install the cover. She did tell me that there was a question something to the affect of..Do I have the lock that was sent with the truck? Good question!
