Tonneau Issue
hey all
i'm back from florida for a couple of weeks.
had a problem getting the e mail set up. will be on line in the sunny south by the new year. trucks in florida and working great. trying to find out about this free cap. i got credit for no cap when i bought truck in august. have now received a soft tonneau with harley emblem through ford. should have it in hand on saturday. i'll load it into car ,take it south and install it myself i guess or go to see tampa harley rider. i'm in punta gorda. whats the scoop on the free jackets. dealer says ford should have sent me an order form. i understand screwups happen but can't understand ford marketing on this one. latest i heard is about a $4000 rebate to get rid of the remaining trucks. hope it's not true. when you pay full tilt for a limited production special you don't expect to be jerked around. i don't think the dealers are the problem here. still loving the truck.

Huey--guess you didn't take your HD rims off in Florida
I'm running on regular F150 alum rims with General tires thru winter to protect investment--the rims are now gold given Ford pricing. On the jacket: you should have received a letter from Ford Canada that you have to fax back--not much leather but still nice looking. Cust Service did phone me since I mentioned the tonneau issue vis a vis US customers and Cnd--answer was dealer should be offerring tonneau for $250 but hard or soft? didn't know. My dealer changed hands end of Sept and sales guy has left so still waiting on status of tonneau--they have to check with Ford. Hard or soft doesn't matter to me--let us know how the install goes and how it looks. Will update here as well. ck

got my hd soft tonneau yesterday. looks ok but not exciting. it's a plain black cover woth the hd motorcycle emblem (orange & white) stencilled on. was hoping it would be raised embossed lettering for hd150 but guess i'll keep it cuz i like the open access to the box it gives. can't install it till i get back to florida in a couple of weeks. doesn't look too tuff. too cold in this country. i'm outa here.

Anyone have pictures of the soft cover?
What's the deal -- are the Canadians getting the soft cover and those in the US getting the Leer hard cover?

harley guy
i think everyone will eventually get the same cover. i had a standard leer cover on mine but took it off cuz it warped and cuz the hard cover makes the box kind of useless. sure will look good though. i think i'll be leaving the soft cover even if i get the new leer one. haven't put it on yet but think it's what i want. hope so i paid for it.

Hi everyone, after a wee hiatus.
I was just reading about the tonneaus, and I think if we're patient, things will come our way. The fax-back letter from Ford ack'd the fact they had a Customer sat issue, and they did allude to actually correcting things (so they should!). I've also had a reply to a note sent to Leer, and they state that the molds are owned by Ford (ie. not available to order direct from Leer). So, we just have to keep after Ford to get these. I think they're ALL going to be the proper glossy hard covers, and not softies as I read about.
