Pretty Important, check your dipstick!

It's an assembly plant issue, so for the Lightnings it's only at Ontario, not KCAP where the HDs are built, but check out this forum.

If you have a 4R100, it get's MERCON, not MERCON V, even if the dipstick says otherwise. Just thought I'd post a heads up on this.

MERCON V will destroy your transmission if you have a 4R100, this is pretty important.

Maybe this thread should be stuck to the start of this forum. Sounds pretty important.

Yes, I went thru a nut roll with the dealer when I installed the valve body this summer. The Owners Manual clearly says MERCON ONLY in the 4R100 and MERCON V in the other. When I went to buy the fluid, they said they've only heard of MERCON V going in F150s. They had confused looks on their faces when I said it was a HD with 4R100 Tranny, so they said check the dip stick, but apparently some trucks are getting the same dip stick as a regular f150 from the factory. They called a rep at SVT who said plain and simple 'MERCON', as Factory_Tech said.

Talking mercon

My dipstick says Mercon. Must be the right one.
